Grantwriter
We realize the importance of having funds to reward and compensate our volunteers and fosters. Currently we do not have assistance in fundraising nor do we have a grantwriter. We are so fortunate we have donors who have been the LIFE of our nonprofit. We are a unique Animal Rescue foundation whose Founder provides hands-on-training for animals we save, thus this is alot of work hands on with the animals. We could really benefit by having the assistance of a grantwriter who has an ability to hear the ways we are making a difference in not only animals but humans who use our dogs to increase their health and happiness, wellness for life. Are you a great teacher with a good eye for detail? Help improve Oppia's free basic math lessons!
with OPPIA FOUNDATION INCDo you have an eye for detail, and a passion for making lessons as understandable as possible, in order to help underserved children gain access to basic math education? If so, Oppia is looking for volunteers to join our lesson reviewing team and help improve our curated online math lessons. To get started, please fill in this form: https://forms.gle/hhj548cqdccoWqzK8 Who We Are The Oppia Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit with the mission to provide high quality education to all. We do this through the creation and maintenance of our free-to-use platform, Oppia (https://www.oppia.org), the coordination of our passionate contributors, and the development of critical partnerships with NGOs in the communities we aim to serve. Where You Fit In Millions of children are not receiving the education they deserve. Of the 61 million children worldwide who cannot attend primary school, 17 million will never step foot into a school if trends continue. In the wake of COVID-19, millions more children are also seeing interruptions in their daily lives, stability, and education - making it even more difficult than before for many students to get the education they need to succeed. Our volunteer community has created a series of over 70 mathematics lessons that have proved highly engaging and effective, including in a randomized controlled trial. Their success has been possible because of our very careful content creation process, with multiple rounds of review to ensure that all the explanations are as clear as possible. We are now expanding our reach to other areas of mathematics and science, and are committed to maintaining the same level of quality. We are looking for experienced educators, ideally with a background in editing, proofreading, and/or mathematics teaching, to read draft educational content and provide feedback on what needs to be improved, or to evaluate suggestions for improving the lessons and advise on which changes should be made. Why Oppia is an Organization You Want to Work With Oppia has served over 2,000,000 users. Oppia focuses on effectiveness, and conducts rigorous user testing and RCTs to validate the lessons we offer. Learners using Oppia’s lessons have seen gains of 50+% from pre-test to post-test. Oppia's contributors actively help to provide students around the world with basic education. Please see https://medium.com/@ebelubhuhiose/86b97283edf4 and https://medium.com/@ojobusayo99/6e783aaddb74 for examples of our current work. Oppia has a community of hundreds of passionate volunteers from across the globe, so our meetings are held online at flexible times. What Our Lesson Improvements Team Contributes Review all new educational content before it is published to students. Identify errors, unclear explanations, or references that might confuse students from different cultures, and provide suggestions to improve the text and presentation. Review suggestions for improvements to existing lessons, and advise on which ones to implement. Review existing lessons and suggest improvements to them. If you’d like to help out, please fill in our application form at https://forms.gle/hhj548cqdccoWqzK8. Thank you!

Become a Certified Peer Counselor and coach people facing tough work situations
with Empower WorkWant to learn to coach workers in need? Every day, people facing work crises - whether it’s a sudden termination, a difficult manager, or a loss of purpose - text our help line or chat with us online. Through our 25-hour training, you can provide them encouragement, clarity, and action plan they need to get them to a better place. At Empower Work, we welcome volunteers with any amount of work experience and a passion for deep listening, empathy, and guidance. Once you’ve completed our structured training program, you’ll be able to take on a range of conversations as a Peer Counselor, using conversational tools gained from training to really get to the root of an issue and help people feel heard. At Empower Work, we’ve had volunteers stick with us for years, advancing to become mentors or take increased responsibility on the line. Here’s what one current volunteer says about their growth and impact at Empower Work: "I believe so strongly in the power of coaching, and that everyone can and should have the experience of good coaching at work. It’s clear that so many of our texters do not have anyone they can talk with candidly at work, much less someone who has coaching or counseling experience. It feels really valuable and do-able to provide that support to individuals via my volunteer shifts." Interested? We have events each day and will need roles covered, such as crowd control, working directly with the students from about 70 countries by volunteering in the exhibit hall, helping them set up projects. On Thursday during Fair week, we have between 2,500-3,500 local school children visit on Education Outreach Day. There will be hands-on exhibits, and opportunities for the school children to interact with the Finalists. We will need hundreds of volunteers for this exciting day to highlight STEM in Columbus! We have dozens of other tasks as well. To sign up, go here: www.societyforscience.org/isef/volunteers. Interpreters: Since we will have students from about 70 countries, we need volunteer (non-technical) interpreters in a couple of dozen languages. The largest need is in the following languages: Spanish, Arabic, Mandarin, Portuguese, Japanese, Korean and Thai. Others include, but are not limited to Urdu, Indonesian, Filipino, Kazakh, and Turkish. Wednesday, May 14, 2025, between 7:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. - All day would be amazing, but we will take volunteer interpreters in shifts. 7:00 a.m. there will be a breakfast where interpreters and Finalists are introduced and you will get to know them. 8:00 a.m. interpreter and the Finalist will go to the Exhibit hall and they will explain their project. All of the technical terms are on the project and in English, so technical language is not needed. If you have interpreting skills, but cannot help on Wednesday, May 14 or you you want to help in other ways, you can sign up as a general volunteer in one or more of the other areas/days. We will still credential you as an interpreter, but you will help in the area(s) you sign up for and will be pulled to help a finalist with their language needs as they arise. Judges: We are in need of 1,000 Judges in 22 scientific disciplines on On Wednesday, May 14, 2025. If you are interested in applying as a judge, please indicate this when replying to this listing. A Grand Award Judge must have at least one of the following A minimum of six years related professional experience beyond receiving their B.A., B.S., or Masters degree or Have a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent (D.O., Ed.D., D.D.S., D.V.M., etc.), OR Is a graduate student with more than four years of doctoral-level research experience or who is within one year of doctoral dissertation defense. We look forward to meeting you!
