Purpose: Assist with research and administrative projects that help fulfill fundraising needs and annual fundraising goal. Responsibilities: · Research potential donors including company's key contacts, charitable giving history, community involvement, areas of giving and contact information. · Identify relationships between prospects and potential board connections. · Assist with gift processing, including daily gift log, bundling, and mailing gifts to processing center. · Provide information to Fundraiser or Stewardship Volunteer for follow-up. · Prepare PowerPoint deck presentations for corporate donors. · Print and send outgoing donor communications, such as event mailings (invitations), disaster solicitation mailings during national disaster, donor mailings for end-of-year solicitation, and postcards to steward donors (examples include postcards for Turn and Test, for Thanksgiving, or holiday postcards) · Provide general office assistance as related to development, including photocopying, as well as assisting with projects and other duties as assigned. Time Commitment: · 6+ hours/week over 2 different business days (3 hours shift per day) · One volunteer is needed for this role, in-person, at the Fairfax Office (8550 Arlington Blvd, Fairfax VA) · One volunteer is needed for this role, in-person, at the Baltimore Office (4700 Mt Hope Dr, Baltimore, MD 21215) Main task is to process donor gifts, add to donor database and some admin duties Need reliable transportation (offices are not on the Metro line) Qualifications: · Passion for the Red Cross mission and the community · Ability to work effectively as a member of the Red Cross team · Knowledge of Red Cross structure, services policies, and procedures · Knowledge and familiar with using research tools (example: Searching the internet to research donors) · Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written · Well organized, responsible, trustworthy · Attention to detail · Able to work in a team · Ability to multi-task

Purpose: To participate in all DAT program support and capacity building activities necessary to ensure effective service delivery during a DAT response. Location(s): Montgomery County Responsibilities: Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing. This position is responsible for the tasks involved in the Disaster Action Team program including: Supporting the annual goals, Regional Disaster Officer (RDO) objectives, and regional/chapter plan for DAT services through participation in meetings, projects, and local response activities. Completes all required training and maintains current training standard as DAT program requirements change. Attends regular team meetings and training as required by the region/territory. Completes assigned projects and local response activities according to the needs of the DAT program. (Preparing vehicles, response materials, administrative support of the DAT program and other tasks assigned by the DAT Leader.) Time Commitment: Hours are flexible. Volunteers may commit to fixed duty days or may be "on call." Typical disaster responses require 4-6 hours. Volunteers would need to be available at least 3-4 days per month. Qualifications: Recommended qualifications: Ability to: Follow and execute requests received from supervisor with little or no supervision. Adapt to change, negotiate compromise and tolerate ambiguity. Build effective relationships with others who can help with work-related goals. Team member may work towards the DAT Service Associate response position. Development Opp: With additional training there are opportunities for individual and leadership development to serve as: -DAT Service Associate on a DAT response. -DAT Team Leader in support of the DAT preparedness. -DAT Supervisor on a DAT response. Additional training is available across all service lines to orient volunteer to additional activities and opportunities within the Red Cross. Prepare youth, families and communities for disasters (such as home fire, flood, or even larger scale disasters) by giving them the proper knowledge they need. You'll conduct The Pillowcase Project presentations given to youth, in schools and community settings. The Pillowcase Project is offered by the Red Cross to youth ages 8 - 11 in order to give them awareness and understanding of natural hazards, teach safety and emotional coping skills, as well as the importance of personal preparedness. It's called the Pillowcase Project because student have the opportunity to decorate and personalize their own pillowcases, which serve as containers for a personal emergency supplies kit. Kids are encouraged to share what they've learned with friends and family, effectively creating a more prepared community.
