Pickens County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) is seeking dedicated and experienced professionals from diverse backgrounds to join our Board of Directors. Help guide our organization as we continue building homes, communities, and hope. Board Responsibilities: As a member of our Board of Directors, you will have the opportunity to leverage your expertise and leadership to shape the strategic direction of PCHFH. You’ll work alongside a dynamic group of leaders to ensure we fulfill our mission, provide financial and operational oversight, and secure the resources needed for sustainable growth. Ideal candidates bring experience in areas such as accounting, finance, real estate, law, community development, fundraising, or family-centered case management. Your voice will help us strengthen our programs, safeguard our assets, maintain legal and ethical integrity, and enhance our standing in the community. This role offers you the chance to make a real difference while sharpening your leadership skills and expanding your professional network. Individual Board Member Responsibilities To be an engaged board member, we ask that you: Contribute at least $200 annually to PCHFH. Prepare for, attend, and actively participate in monthly board meetings (3 hours/month). Actively participate in or chair one of our committees (5 hours/month). Participate in community outreach on behalf of PCHFH or champion necessary tasks (5 hours/month). Consistently advocate for PCHFH and its mission. Anticipated total time commitment: 10-15 hours per month. Many board members contribute additional time throughout the year to ensure the success of our board and affiliate. Accountability is key, and board members are expected to uphold these commitments to maintain an effective board. Vital Committees Awaiting Your Passion: Communications and Development Committee: Help us tell the story of transformation and community through various media channels. Engage and grow our network of supporters to secure the resources needed for our mission’s success. Homeowner Selection and Support Committee: Assist partner families on their journey to homeownership by providing education, mentorship, and ongoing support, ensuring a smooth transition to homeownership. Finance Committee: Ensure our financial health by overseeing budgeting, planning, and resource allocation. Your expertise will help us maximize every dollar for the benefit of our community. Pickens County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) is expanding its efforts to provide safe, affordable housing to families in need. As we grow, so do our financial management needs. We are seeking a Volunteer Accounting Consultant to support our bookkeeper in handling complex financial questions and ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting. Role Overview: This is a consulting role, ideal for a seasoned accountant willing to offer their expertise on a flexible, as-needed basis. While our bookkeeper manages the day-to-day financial operations, we are looking for an experienced professional to provide occasional guidance, answer questions, and assist with complex financial issues. Consulting Responsibilities: Advise the bookkeeper on general ledger management, fund accounting, and nonprofit financial compliance. Provide guidance on preparing annual financial reports and submissions to meet funder requirements. Assist with strategic budget planning and help troubleshoot financial tracking issues related to various funding sources. Offer support during preparation for financial audits and help ensure GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards compliance. Be available for occasional consultation to address specific financial questions or challenges as they arise. Qualifications: 5 to 7 years of accounting experience, preferably with a nonprofit. Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (FASB 116 & 117) and GAAP. Experience with QuickBooks is a plus. A commitment to our mission and values, including ethical financial stewardship. Whether you want to volunteer once or as often as you’d like, we welcome you to join us on our construction sites and be part of something meaningful. What You’ll Do: Participate in hands-on construction tasks such as framing, painting, and installing fixtures. Work alongside our skilled construction team and fellow volunteers to help build safe, affordable homes. Choose your schedule! Shifts are available from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday, allowing flexibility based on your availability. Who Can Volunteer? Anyone aged 18 and over is welcome-no prior construction experience is needed. Volunteers 14 and older can participate when no power tools are in use. Parent supervision required. This opportunity is also perfect for those completing community service hours. What You’ll Do: Collaborate with other voluneers and staff to plan and organize fundraising events, community outreach, and special projects. Bring fresh ideas to create engaging events that foster community involvement and increase our visibility. Help with logistics, marketing, and outreach to ensure successful, well-attended events. Assist in developing partnerships with local businesses and organizations to support our events. What We’re Looking For: A passion for our mission of creating safe, affordable housing for all. As a C² volunteer, you will be part of a close-knit team that works together to build safe, affordable homes for local families. Whether you're a seasoned builder or brand new to construction, all are welcome. The only requirement is a commitment to service, a willingness to learn, and a desire to collaborate with others who share a passion for making a difference. The C-Squared Program is more than just volunteering-it’s about becoming part of a community dedicated to putting faith into action. Our group is rooted in Christian principles, but we welcome individuals from all walks of life who share our belief in the power of service. By joining, you’ll not only help build homes, but also foster connections that can last a lifetime. This is your while making a tangible impact in the lives of others. What You’ll Do: Join our construction team at varied construction sites across Pickens County for a minimum of one shift per week (9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.), with shifts available Tuesday through Saturday.
