Pickens County Habitat for Humanity (PCHFH) is expanding its efforts to provide safe, affordable housing to families in need. As we grow, so do our financial management needs. We are seeking a Volunteer Accounting Consultant to support our bookkeeper in handling complex financial questions and ensuring accurate financial tracking and reporting.
Role Overview: This is a consulting role, ideal for a seasoned accountant willing to offer their expertise on a flexible, as-needed basis. While our bookkeeper manages the day-to-day financial operations, we are looking for an experienced professional to provide occasional guidance, answer questions, and assist with complex financial issues.
Consulting Responsibilities:
- Advise the bookkeeper on general ledger management, fund accounting, and nonprofit financial compliance.
- Provide guidance on preparing annual financial reports and submissions to meet funder requirements.
- Assist with strategic budget planning and help troubleshoot financial tracking issues related to various funding sources.
- Offer support during preparation for financial audits and help ensure GAAP and nonprofit accounting standards compliance.
- Be available for occasional consultation to address specific financial questions or challenges as they arise.
Qualifications:
- 5 to 7 years of accounting experience, preferably with a nonprofit.
- Knowledge of nonprofit accounting standards (FASB 116 & 117) and GAAP.
- Experience with QuickBooks is a plus.
- A commitment to our mission and values, including ethical financial stewardship.
Why Volunteer with Us? As a volunteer accounting consultant, you will play a key role in supporting PCHFH’s mission of building homes, communities, and hope. By lending your expertise, you will help ensure our financial stability, enabling us to continue serving families in need. You'll be working alongside a dedicated team of volunteers, staff, and community members who are passionate about creating lasting change.
