Make friendly, compassionate visits to hospice patients and become an important member of the team at Good Shepherd Community Care. Our award-winning hospice offers thorough training and ongoing support to our volunteers. You can help improve our patients' end of life experiences. We are in special need of Cantonese, Spanish and Russian speakers. Also Italian, French, Turkish, Portuguese, Korean, German, Vietnamese, and other languages. You can make an important difference to our hospice patients and families by providing friendly companionship visits to our patients during their last months of life. Bring joy to Good Shepherd hospice patients and pediatric palliative care patients with pet therapy visits with your trained animal! Friendly pet therapy visits are greatly appreciated by our patients and their families. Join us and help improve our patients' quality of life. For Dogs: You and your dog must have received Canine Good Citizen, or equivalent certification, or beyond. Do you have a non-dog pet that you have been certified with to make visits? (cats, bunnies, birds, etc.) we are also very interested in discussing our volunteer possibilities with you! Our award-winning hospice offers comprehensive volunteer training and ongoing support. You can make a meaningful difference in the last months of the lives of the hospice patients and/or support our pediatric palliative care patients. Our award-winning programs are seeking Reiki therapists certified at Level 2 or above, to volunteer to visit our patients in the greater-Boston area. Visits take place where the patients reside (in their homes, nursing homes or assisted living facilities). We provide comprehensive training and ongoing support. Our next training starts in mid-November 2024. If you live in the Greater Boston area, we have patients near you and can arrange timing and visits around your schedule. Are you a Military Veteran who would like to compassionately serve as a hospice volunteer, to visit hospice patients who are veterans (or hospice patients who are civilians), who request companionship visits? During your visits you might: reminisce, look through family photo albums, play a game of cards, go for a walk, or sit in silence and be a comforting presence. Visits take place wherever the patients reside; in their home, Assisted Living, or Nursing Home. Our volunteers visit patients throughout the greater-Boston area.
