Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network offers our hearts and hands to provide compassionate and non-judgmental service to those affected by HIV/AIDS. Through education and support and a variety of programs and advocacy, we work to build bridges, reduce stigma and sustain hope. Development/Fundraising Committee Volunteers help create and carry out the development plan and activities of the agency, make recommendations regarding fundraising events and campaigns, raise funds for the organization through personal giving, as well as solicitations from businesses, individuals, and foundations, and serve as ambassadors, keeping TIHAN connected to our constituents and partners. If you have prior experience serving on a nonprofit board of directors or fundraising committee, or a background in non-profit development, and can offer at least six hours of volunteer service a month, we’d love to hear from you. How does Tucson Interfaith HIV/AIDS Network let the community know about its programs and services for people living with HIV and AIDS, volunteer opportunities, and its educational and advocacy opportunities? One important way is staffing informational booths or tables at community events. As a Community Ambassador, you’ll help people understand HIV and AIDS, assist them in becoming volunteers themselves, and enhance TIHAN’s presence in Tucson and Southern Arizona. Your friendly smile, open and welcoming demeanor, and desire to listen as well as share information, will help reduce stigma and provide compassionate support for people living with HIV. At TIHAN, we offer our hearts and hands to provide compassionate and nonjudgmental service to those affected by HIV/AIDS. Through education and support, we- as individuals and faith communities-work to build bridges, reduce stigma, and sustain hope through education, advocacy and service. By bringing together religious, secular, corporate and non-profit groups, TIHAN is creating an inclusive and affirming support network for and with people living with HIV. Does your faith community have a person who serves as the liaison between TIHAN and your congregation? If not, are you you interested in helping? A faith community liaison serves as our point person for sending periodic announcements to submit for your bulletin/newsletter. The liaison also attend our faith community liaison meetings (held four times per year). The liaison keeps TIHAN informed about happenings at your faith community, and also keeps the congregation informed about TIHAN. A Link Specialist volunteer helps to provide information and referral services to our CarePartners. Volunteers focus on advocacy as well as emotional and social support. Link Specialists also provide new CarePartners with an overview of TIHAN's services and assistance navigating social services in the HIV community and connections to resources, empower CarePartners by informing them of how to navigate social services in the HIV community, and connect them to the resources they need by making appropriate referrals. Volunteering one morning or afternoon shift each week will make a difference for our CarePartners. Microsoft Office proficiency is required.
