AgeSpan is seeking volunteers to lead in-person chair yoga classes to our senior housing sites. At these low-income housing sites, we employ on-site Resident Service Coordinators who provide programming and one of the most requested activities is yoga!This volunteer opportunity is a great way to connect with older adults & people with disabilities that are looking to improve their mobility through yoga. Where: Peabody, Methuen, or Chelmsford. When: Flexible (one time, weekly, monthly, quarterly). Monday - Friday between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Volunteers can coordinate a schedule with the Resident Service Coordinator. Requirements: Volunteer yoga teachers must complete a CORI background check, have liability insurance, and yoga certification.

Position Overview: The Volunteer Meals on Wheels Driver transports prepared meals to homebound older adults and people with disabilities throughout the Merrimack Valley and North Shore. The volunteer position involves picking up meals at a central location and delivering them along a pre-determined route directly to the homes of several older adults in your area. Once you’re done, you return the delivery packaging items and you can get back to your regular day knowing you’ve made a positive impact! Requirements: · Must be 18 or older. · Complete a volunteer application & CORI background check. · Musthave personal reliable transportation, currentdriver’s license and musthave automobile insurance witha minimum liability coverageof $20,000/$40,000. · Requiresliftingand carrying upto50pounds,getting in and out of a vehicle up to 30 times per day, bending, reaching, twisting, walking, and climbing multiple flights of stairs at residences that do not have elevators. · Requires driving in four season weather conditions. · Abletoread, write, understand, and interpret basicEnglish. Location: We have openings available in various cities/towns throughout the North Shore and Merrimack Valley. Time Commitment: We can set up a volunteer schedule that works with yours. The program runs Monday- Friday. Volunteers can deliver 1-5 days a week. Typically, shifts are about 3 hours per day, in the mornings from approx. 9am-12:00pm. Position Overview: The Friendly Visitor Volunteer provides companionship, social interaction, and mental stimulation to isolated older adults in the Merrimack Valley and North Shore. Friendly Visitors listen, engage in conversation, and participate in a mutually agreed upon hobby or activity. Visits are based on the volunteer’s availability and typically occur in the older adult’s home. Duties and Responsibilities: Visit with the older adult in their home and participate in activities such as (but are not limited to): playing cards/games, sharing stories, baking, walking, crafts, helping with reading and writing letters. Establish rapport and develop a friendly, supportive relationship with the older adult. Give clear messages about what your role is, what you can or cannot do, and agency policies. Provide total monthly volunteer hours and total number of times you met with the older adult at the end of each month to the Volunteer Program Staff. Report any concerns to the consumer’s Case Manager & Volunteer Program Staff as soon as possible. Skills, Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements: * Must be 18 years of age * Must be reliable and trustworthy, enjoy working one on one, unsupervised * Possess good interpersonal and communication skills * Compassionate, respectful, patient and sensitive to the needs of older adults * Possess good judgement and manage personal boundaries * Pass a criminal background check and provide 2 references

You can make a difference in the fight for quality healthcare! The Massachusetts Senior Medicare Patrol (SMP) Program trains volunteers to provide Medicare and Medicaid beneficiaries education and guidance to prevent, detect and report healthcare errors fraud and abuse. SMP Counselors Provide one-on-one counseling and guidance to healthcare consumers, respond to, and refer inquiries about healthcare errors, fraud, and abuse to the Massachusetts SMP Program office. SMP counselors are trained to identify deceptive marketing tactics, scams, abuse, and fraud and to make appropriate referrals. SMP Case Researchers Assist SMP staff in researching complaints of healthcare errors, fraud and abuse and reporting complaints to the appropriate agencies for further investigation. SMP Community Educators Assist with the delivery of the SMP Program message and the dissemination of program brochures, personal healthcare journals and other promotional item by representing the Massachusetts Senior Medicare Patrol Program at community events, health fairs and other opportunities that provide a forum to spread the SMP message. SMP Program Ambassadors Identify and cultivate potential relationships that help the Massachusetts SMP Program broaden its reach and visibility across the state. SMP Administrative Support Team Members Provide administrative and clerical support to the Massachusetts SMP Program office. Activities include, but are not limited to data entry, outreach event preparation, assistance with mailings, assistance with outreach/marketing campaigns and participation in ongoing projects. Provide outreach, and education to Medicare, and Medicaid beneficiaries, family members, and caregivers on how to protect, detect, and report healthcare errors, fraud, and abuse. Volunteers must be 18+.
