Direct Patient volunteers will provide companionship, socialization, emotional support to our patients and families through their conversation, card playing, book reading, hand holding, maybe light housekeeping and just a warm presence! You may visit one or multiple patients in facilities or at home. You tell us how often & when. This is a very flexible volunteer opportunity, and the possibilities are endless! Plus, we try to match you up with patients in your area. So, hopefully, you will serve in the community that you live in.

We are currently seeking Volunteers for Companionship and Pet Therapy in Delaware, Franklin, Fairfield, Knox, Licking, Madison, Marion, Morrow, Pickaway and Union Counties! Can you share your gift of presence, read, play a board game, chat, play music, offer companionship? or Do you have a licensed Pet Therapy dog? Then we can show you how to enhance the quality of life for patients who are experiencing a life limiting illness. With the help of volunteers like you, our patients get a chance for enjoyment and socialization! Companionship and Pet Therapy volunteers make friendly visits on their own schedules. Orientation, training, background check, TB Test and drug screen are required and provided! We can't wait to meet you!

Capital City Hospice is looking for a weekly volunteer to help patients, families, and our staff by ensuring our patients have the necessary supplies and medications to get them through the weekend. The ideal volunteer will speak clearly and with a pleasant demeanor while engaging in focused, goal driven conversations with caregivers and/or patients. Calls should take place on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays and can be done at our office or at home. Responsibilities We are excited to bring more creativity to the work we do as an organization. The ideal volunteer(s) in this role would be proficient writers, who can help patients and/or their families with legacy projects that focus on written word. Some examples may include: a grandparent writing a letter to their grandchild to be given at their college graduation, a former ballet teacher that wants to capture teaching stories to share with their former students, or a patient coming to terms with mortality and looking to poetry as a coping outlet. Qualifications Proficient writing skills, high-quality interpersonal skills, accountability, helper. *All volunteers are required to pass BCI, drug screen and TB test - all covered by Capital City Hospice.
