Palliative Care Volunteer: The role of the ElderPlace Palliative Care Volunteer is to visit our participants and provide companionship and emotional support and comfort to our participants during weekly visits. Visits occur in different living situations such as in the home, hospital, EP housing sites, Adult Foster care homes, Residential Care homes, Assisting Living homes & Skilled Nursing facilities. This support can include light hand massaging, hand holding, talking, listening or enjoying the silence of the person you are visiting. At times, you may be asked to take short walks or even walk the dog if asked and you are comfortable doing so. (Palliative care volunteers may not escort participants outside of their living environment or do patient care as a volunteer). Qualifications: Dependability Compassion Flexibility Impartial to different living situations Ability to engage with many types of people Ability to engage with participants at end-of-life process Willingness to commit to one year of volunteer service 21 years of age

Providence ElderPlace helps older adults remain as healthy and independent as possible in the community for as long as possible. As volunteers we are helping support and enrich the lives of our participants. Games/Arts & Crafts Assistant: The ElderPlace Games and Arts & Crafts Assistant will assist our participants with playing Bingo, dominoes, checkers, chess, crafting and preparing for an arts and crafts project. Assistants are invited to call Bingo and assist individuals that have hearing and/or visual impairments as well as setting up and engaging with participants with crafts. No experience needed & training will be provided by staff to better ensure a more gratifying volunteer experience. ElderPlace has 8 locations throughout Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties. Qualifications: Enthusiastic Ability to engage with many types of people Willingness to be flexible and patient Dependable 16+ years of age

Providence ElderPlace Volunteer Opportunity Providence ElderPlace helps older adults remain as healthy and independent as possible in the community for as long as possible. As volunteers we are helping support and enrich the lives of our participants. Transcriptionists: The ElderPlace program provides one-on-one support to our participants. We are looking for someone who enjoys typing and socializing with others. Some of our participants are authors or have previous written pieces they would like transcribed, as they can no longer do this on their own. If this is something that interests you, please apply. In-Home Friendly Visitors: The ElderPlace In-Home Friendly Visitors program provides one-on-one support to our participants within their living environment outside of the ElderPlace facilities. Many of our participants benefit greatly from one-on-one interactions; support can include but is not limited to playing games doing arts or crafts, singing, reading out loud, helping write letters, reminiscing and/ or engaging in light conversation. We have volunteer opportunities that support your intention of making a positive difference in the lives of others. The ElderPlace Laurelhurst Day Center located in NE Portland is seeking volunteers Monday through Friday between the hours of 9:30am - 2:30pm. Your presence one day a week brings the opportunity for living in the moment and celebration. Volunteers may do one or more of the following activities within the Day Center: Reading a story Playing a variety of games Arts & Craft projects Reminiscing One-on-One companionship Assisting in serving lunch.
