Providence ElderPlace helps older adults remain as healthy and independent as possible in the community for as long as possible. As volunteers we are helping support and enrich the lives of our participants.

In-Home Friendly Visitors:

The ElderPlace In-Home Friendly Visitors program provides one-on-one support to our participants within their living environment outside of the ElderPlace facilities. Many of our participants benefit greatly from one-on-one interactions; support can include but is not limited to playing games doing arts or crafts, singing, reading out loud, helping write letters, reminiscing and/ or engaging in light conversation. ElderPlace has 8 locations in Multnomah, Washington, and Clackamas Counties.

Qualifications

  • Ability to engage with many types of people
  • Impartial to different living situations
  • Good listening skills
  • Dependable
  • Willingness to commit to one year of volunteer service
  • 18 + years of age

Description

Providence ElderPlace is an innovative program of health care and social services for older adults. Our model of care is known as PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly). Nationally, PACE programs keep older adults as healthy as possible in the community by providing comprehensive health care and social services including: primary and specialty medical care, a day health program, social work services, rehabilitation, housing (if necessary) and much more.
