Palliative Care Volunteer: The role of the ElderPlace Palliative Care Volunteer is to visit our participants and provide companionship and emotional support and comfort to our participants during weekly visits. Visits occur in different living situations such as in the home, hospital, EP housing sites, Adult Foster care homes, Residential Care homes, Assisting Living homes & Skilled Nursing facilities. This support can include light hand massaging, hand holding, talking, listening or enjoying the silence of the person you are visiting. At times, you may be asked to take short walks or even walk the dog if asked and you are comfortable doing so. (Palliative care volunteers may not escort participants outside of their living environment or do patient care as a volunteer).

Providence ElderPlace is an innovative program of health care and social services for older adults. Our model of care is known as PACE (Program of All Inclusive Care for the Elderly). Nationally, PACE programs keep older adults as healthy as possible in the community by providing comprehensive health care and social services including: primary and specialty medical care, a day health program, social work services, rehabilitation, housing (if necessary) and much more.
