Board Member (Working Board) Non-Profit Organization Position Overview: The Board Member of We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports will play a crucial role in guiding the organization strategically while participating actively in its operational tasks. This is a working board, which means that, in addition to fulfilling traditional governance responsibilities, board members are expected to contribute their time, expertise, and resources to support the organization’s mission and day-to-day functions. Key Responsibilities: 1. Governance and Oversight: - Participate in the development and approval of the organization’s strategic plan. - Ensure the organization complies with legal and ethical standards and adheres to its mission. - Monitor program outcomes 2. Operational Contributions: - Assist in daily operational tasks as needed, which may include program development, fundraising, marketing, and community outreach. - Bring specific expertise to working committees (e.g., finance, fundraising, program development) and actively contribute to their efforts. - Participate in the recruitment, training, and evaluation of staff and volunteers as needed. 3. Fundraising and Resource Development: - Participate actively in fundraising efforts, including identifying potential donors and funding opportunities. - Cultivate relationships with stakeholders to enhance the organization’s visibility and secure partnerships. 4. Advocacy and Representation: - Communicate the organization's mission, programs, and impact to promote awareness and support. 5. Meetings and Reporting: - Attend scheduled board meetings and be prepared to discuss essential agenda items. - Review materials and reports prior to meetings to ensure informed decision-making. 6. Mentorship and Support: - Provide guidance and support to the Board President and staff, fostering a positive and collaborative environment. - Offer insights and advice based on personal expertise and experience in relevant areas. Qualifications: - Skills: Strong communication, organizational, and leadership skills. Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse group of individuals. - Passion: A demonstrated commitment to We WI.L.L. 's mission and values. - Expertise: Relevant expertise/ exposure in areas such as finance, fundraising, marketing, community engagement, or program development is highly desirable. Time Commitment: - A commitment of a few hours a week is expected. - Attendance at board meetings and active participation in organizational activities and committees. Compensation: - This is a volunteer position; however, legitimate expenses incurred in the course of fulfilling board duties may be reimbursed. Board Secretary for Non-Profit Organization Organization: We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports Position Type: Volunteer Remote or In-person Position Overview: The Board Secretary plays a crucial role in supporting the governance and administrative functions of the Board of Directors for We W.I.L.L. Thru Sports. This volunteer position requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational and communication skills. The Secretary will be responsible for maintaining accurate records, managing meeting logistics, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. **Record Keeping:** - Prepare and distribute meeting agendas, minutes, and other documents for board meetings. - Ensure that minutes accurately reflect discussions and decisions made during meetings. - Maintain an organized repository of board documents, including bylaws, policies, and other important records. 2. **Meeting Coordination:** - Schedule board meetings and send calendar invites to board members. - Collaborate with the Board Chair to set meeting agendas. - Ensure that all necessary materials are prepared and distributed prior to meetings. 3. Communication: - Serve as a liaison between board members and staff/committees to facilitate effective communication. - Respond to inquiries and requests for information from board members. 4. Compliance and Governance: - Assist in ensuring that the organization adheres to its bylaws and relevant laws/regulations. - Maintain records needed for compliance with state and federal regulations, including maintaining an up-to-date list of board members and their contact information. 5. Time Commitment: The Board Secretary is expected to commit approximately 10-15 hours a month for meetings, preparation, and related activities.
