Are you creative, social media savvy, and passionate about supporting special needs families? Embrace Abilities is looking for a Social Media Manager to join our team! About Us: Embrace Abilities is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting neurodiverse children and their families on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Our mission is to create a vibrant and inclusive community where every child can thrive. Our brand is bright, fun, and kid-friendly, but we also provide valuable resources for parents navigating the unique challenges of special needs parenting. Check out our website and social media channels to see our style! Role Description: We need a volunteer Social Media Manager to help us: Create engaging content that aligns with our brand’s playful and colorful aesthetic. Develop posts on topics relevant to special needs parenting, including IEPs, behavior management, and other key issues. Build a content calendar to keep our followers informed about events, programs, and valuable resources. Monitor engagement and provide insights to help us understand what resonates best with our community. Offer guidance and creative input, suggesting 5-10 post ideas a month to lighten the load and bring fresh perspectives. Example Post Ideas: To give you a sense of what we're hoping for, here are some examples of the type of posts that could drive engagement: Question of the Week: "Parents, what's the one tip you wish you knew when starting your IEP journey?" or "How do you help your child wind down after a busy day?" These questions encourage parents to share their experiences and build community dialogue. Tip Tuesday: "3 ways to make transitions easier for kids with sensory sensitivities" or "How to prepare for your next IEP meeting like a pro." Informative posts like these can be shared and saved by parents for future reference. Event Highlights: Recap recent events with photos and a brief story, like "We had so much fun at our last meetup! Thanks to everyone who joined us for a day of sensory-friendly fun. What was your child’s favorite activity?" This invites families to share their experiences and tag others. Behind the Scenes: Share a short video or photo of preparations for an upcoming event, like assembling sensory kits or setting up an event space. This gives followers a glimpse into the effort that goes into each gathering and helps them feel more connected. Parent Wins: Create a space for parents to celebrate small wins, like "Did your child try a new food today? Share your small victories with us!" These posts foster positivity and community support. Relatable Memes or Quotes: Share light-hearted memes or uplifting quotes about the journey of parenting a neurodiverse child. These posts are often shared and can bring a smile to followers’ faces. Why We Need You: Our founder, Bridgett, is juggling a lot and is new to social media management. We're looking for someone who can bring expertise and energy to our platforms, helping us reach more families and provide support in the areas they need most. Even a few suggestions or ideas each month would go a long way in helping us keep our content engaging and meaningful. What We're Looking For: Experience with social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok. Strong communication skills and a knack for creating engaging content. A deep understanding of special needs parenting topics. A passion for our mission and a commitment to helping us grow.
