Here are some of the ways you can make a difference with us: Feeding and Daily Cleaning: Assist with the essential care of our cats. Socialization: Spend quality time with our cats and kittens, helping them feel loved and ready for adoption. Adoption Support: Help at adoption events around the city, finding loving homes for our rescued cats. Photography: Capture captivating images of our cats and kittens to showcase their personalities online. Fundraising and Partnerships: Research grants, develop corporate partnerships, and organize fundraising events to support our rescue efforts. Transportation: Help shuttle cats to and from vet appointments and our rescue facility. Volunteer Recruitment: Help expand our team of dedicated volunteers. We value new ideas and initiative. Whether you can spare a few hours a week or more, your help is invaluable to us. Volunteers must be 18 years or older, or accompanied by a legal guardian, and have their own transportation. Shelter Manager, Daytime Shift Job Summary: The Shelter Manager oversees the operations of the Ark of Redemption animal shelter, working closely with the Board of Directors and volunteers. This role ensures cost-effective, sanitary, and humane operations while upholding the mission of AOR. The Shelter Manager acts as a dynamic liaison between staff, the Board of Directors, and the community. Responsibilities: 1. Leadership & Management: - Provide positive and professional co-leadership for a growing volunteer support organization. - Oversee recruitment, scheduling, and training of employees and volunteers. - Maintain a positive relationship with the public and volunteers, offering excellent customer service. - Handle conflict management and resolution effectively. - Manage the emotional aspects of shelter work with professionalism. 2. Operations: - Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with policies and protocols. - Monitor and restock inventory supplies. - Ensure the cleanliness and security of the shelter. 3. Animal Care: - Maintain animal care and health, including administering medications. - Manage intakes and outcomes (adoptions, transports) following protocols. - Develop and oversee programs (foster, volunteer, spay/neuter, TNR, new initiatives). 4. Financial Management: - Manage shelter finances and coordinate with the Treasurer to ensure budget adherence. - Assist in revenue generation and fundraising activities. 5. Community Engagement: - Serve as a visible spokesperson for the shelter. - Participate in community outreach, special events, and shelter events. Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent; higher education preferred. - Experience in animal shelter/rescue management and professional animal care/handling preferred. - Proficiency in computer skills and record-keeping. - Strong customer service and communication skills. - Ability to work independently and as part of a team. - Ability to handle emergency and stressful situations effectively. - Valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driving record. Physical Requirements: - Ability to sit, stand, walk, and perform various physical tasks for extended periods. - Capability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds intermittently. - Ability to perform tasks requiring climbing, bending, squatting, kneeling, and twisting. Knowledge: - Safe and humane animal handling principles and practices. - Animal behavior and care, including feeding and common diseases. - Financial management and integrity in handling money. - Safe work practices and confidentiality of records. Abilities: - Recognize and prioritize tasks. - Perform customer service tasks effectively. - Communicate clearly in both verbal and written forms. - Analyze problems and take effective action during emergencies. - Establish and maintain cooperative relationships with colleagues, volunteers, and the public. - Adapt to new technologies and equipment.
