The Ossining Food Pantry co-sponsors a Mobile Food Pantry truck from Feeding Westchester. We need volunteers to help set up folding tables, unload bags of food from the truck, staff tables to assist in food distribution, and check-in clients. Volunteers must be bilingual (English/Spanish.) This work is outdoors. Schedule: 11:45 a.m.-1:30 p.m. on the first and third Wednesday each month.

The new President will lead an organization with a projected 2024 annual income of approximately $500K, establishing and executing a vision to enable the Pantry to meet short-term needs, while positioning the Pantry for continued long-term success. * Provide leadership and support to develop strategic plans and annual budgets that appropriately position the Ossining Food Pantry to fulfill its mission, grow income, increase client support, and improve operational efficiency. * Work with Board members to strengthen programs, develop new initiatives and ensure existing programs are well managed, fiscally sound and sustainable. * Be the public face of the Pantry. Provide visibility for the Pantry by serving as an effective spokesperson. * Identify and deepen relationships with the community for the purpose of nurturing goodwill, recruiting, and engaging new and ongoing donors/volunteers. * Provide fiscally sound management and fiduciary oversight for long-term financial viability. * Offer thoughtful leadership and guidance throughout the program planning, development, and implementation process. * Grow fundraising results by assisting with development efforts, and personally soliciting gifts. * Participate in Board and Executive committee meetings (held via Zoom each month), help shape the agenda, and engage in discussion and decision-making to advance our mission. * Help to recruit new Board members who will add diversity to the Board and whose talents will help to further the mission and expand funding opportunities. Our mission is to address the food insecurity of our neighbors in the Ossining/Briarcliff community. We provide supplemental food to seniors, individuals, and families. The Pantry makes a huge impact in our community by providing a healthy mix of shelf-stable and fresh foods (vegetables, meat, dairy) for approximately 400 households/ 1,000+ people each week. We partner with the Ossining Farmers Market to provide additional food options to clients. We operate a "choice pantry" food distribution where clients may shop and choose the foods they need and like based on their household size. Volunteers deliver pre-packed bags of groceries to the homebound and to eligible families at Ossining Children’s Center. The Ossining Food Pantry currently operates as a decentralized organization. We have a "Working Board" consisting of individual "team leaders" who are committed to serving the community and perform their individual duties with dedication, often well beyond their formal scope of responsibilities. The Ossining Food Pantry is a 100% volunteer organization with no paid staff. We are funded by philanthropic and community support. The Ossining Food Pantry is a member agency of Feeding Westchester. We are a charitable 501(c)(3) not-for-profit "public" corporation, and we are registered with the N.Y. State Attorney General’s Charities Bureau.

Bags of shelf-stable food are packed in preparation for them to later be delivered to the Ossining Children's Center, and the homebound. We are looking for a volunteer to partner with the current Team Leader to provide additional support and back up, as needed. Tuesday Afternoon Packing Bags takes place from 2:00 - 3:30 PM, on Tuesdays prior to the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month Responsibilities include: Contact the Delivery Team Leaders to determine the number of bags needed to be packed, as the number changes each week Send reminder to volunteers and when on site, review the packing duties to verify they understand the tasks (as needed per volunteer) Open the building, unlock the packing area, turn on the lights Count out the sets of bags to be double-bagged by volunteers Place signs indicating the food items and quantities volunteers will pack in each bag (changes each week) Monitor the quantities of food items in each category, tally those items that need reordering Determine any extra food items for packing that week, as necessary Supervise the packing / placement of packed bags in storage area (assist as needed) Upon completion, tidy, lights off and lock up the packing area and lock up the building Contact the Purchasing Coordinator to resupply bags and food items

Volunteers are needed to help to offload heavy crates and cartons of food from the Feeding Westchester truck; carry foodstuffs down a flight of stairs and place in distribution area; unpack foodstuffs; set up and then stock tables; break down cardboard storage boxes. This is both an outdoor and indoor activity. We need heavy-lifters! Time: TBD. The food delivery truck arrival time is ~ 9:00 am - however this is an estimate. Due to this, volunteers would be notified by text as to what time the truck is expected, so they don’t have to wait around.

Wednesday evening is our largest food distribution where we typically serve over 250 families. We are looking for a volunteer to partner with the current Team Leader to provide additional support and back up, as needed. This program takes place every Wednesday evening from 5:30 to 8:15 PM. Team Leaders responsibilities include: -Coordinate weekly volunteer schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all tasks. -Oversee the work of over 20+ volunteers. -P rovide access to the facility for the volunteers. - Work with both volunteers and community clients throughout the evening to troubleshoot issues in real time. - Assist with computer check in procedures. -Assist at food stations as needed to restock tables, assist clients in food selection, etc.). -Ensure equitable allocation of food supplies, particularly limited or low stock items (eg. fresh fruit/vegetables, eggs, meat, baked goods) based on weekly availability. -Introduce and train new volunteers to Pantry procedures. -Supervise and provide attestation of service hours for community service volunteers. -Facilitate tidying up at evenings' end to then close and lock up the facility.
