The focus is to improve educational outcomes, promote positive development and social-emotional growth. We need a nonprofit attorney to serve as primary contact for legal programs in the preparation of new proposals and contract renewals to ensure high quality proposal, compliance with solicitation requirements and timely submission. We need your help to be involved in the day-to-day operations. We need your help to review and refine onboarding protocols and ensure high quality training for new Mentors, as well as ongoing training to support the needs of existing staff. About Mentor A Promise: Mentor A Promise is a non-profit organization, and our mission is to provide socio-emotional learning, academic support, and mentorship to students in temporary housing and facing housing instability. We partner with family temporary housing sites across New York, educational institutions, and community organizations to create a strong support network for young people experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and forge their own path to success. Position Overview: As a Mentor, you will be a positive role model, advocate, and resource for our students, fostering an environment of inclusivity, empowerment, and mutual support. Mentor a Promise ("MAP") is seeking an outgoing and enthusiastic person to assist with the teaching of our educational programs for school-aged children residing in temporary housing in NYC. The Educator plays a key role in implementing lesson plans in a variety of our community-based programming, including in our after school sites and virtual program. This person will connect with our community and partners to promote all our educational programming and will participate in the delivery and demonstration of programs alongside MAP's staff. This role is perfect for individuals passionate about providing educational and empowerment opportunities to help uplift our students. Strategic Oversight Understand and promote the organization’s Mission, Vision, and Core Values to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures. Provide leadership and supervision across all areas of the program to support staff, children, families, and partners. Communicate the program’s goals to ensure it aligns with the agency’s vision, goals, and strategic direction to ensure alignment with program operations. Oversee the development and execution of strategic initiatives and projects to drive program growth and improvement. Curriculum Implementation and Support Promote high-quality and developmentally appropriate teaching and learning in the in-person and online programs Develop and implement strategies to differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of all learners, including children with special needs and English language learners. Oversee the integration of technology into the curriculum to enhance learning experiences and support 21st-century skills development. Facilitate curriculum training for all educators. Continuous Quality Improvement Support the mentors with promoting high-quality teaching and learning across all programs Leadership, supervision, and coaching may be provided through the following: Supporting mentors with lesson plans and curriculum implementation. Scheduling and facilitating orientation of new mentors Provide guidance and resources to mentors for incorporating culturally responsive teaching practices that respect and celebrate the diversity of the children and families served. Facilitate regular team meetings and collaborative planning sessions to support mentors in curriculum implementation and instructional strategies. Conduct classroom observations and provide reflective feedback to mentors to support continuous improvement in teaching practices. Implement regular program evaluations and assessments to identify areas for improvement and ensure adherence to quality standards. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by encouraging feedback from staff, mentors and stakeholders. Program Design and Management Support staff with adhering to the Early Childhood program Policies and Procedures to ensure efficient operations and compliance with all regulations. Coordinate with Staff to align program design with strategic goals and community needs. Data Analysis and Reporting Provide comprehensive data analysis and reporting Analyze program data to identify trends, strengths, and areas for improvement, and develop action plans based on findings. Prepare and present regular reports on program performance, outcomes, and compliance to Team Utilize data to track progress towards goals and objectives, ensuring alignment with organizational standards and regulatory requirements. Communication and Partnerships Develop and maintain effective communication channels with staff, families, and community partners to ensure transparency and collaboration. Represent the program at external meetings, conferences, and events to build partnerships and promote the program's mission and achievements. Stakeholder Engagement In collaboration with the Team to build strong relationships with community partners, local organizations, and other stakeholders to support program goals and initiatives. Organize and participate in community events and meetings to promote the program and build a network of support. Share highlights of families, kids, staff, and community partners Training and Capacity Building Commitment to professional development for themselves and their staff. Facilitate regular training sessions and workshops for staff to ensure the implementation of best practices in early childhood education. Mentor and coach staff to develop their skills and competencies in working with young children and families. Develop and implement individualized professional development plans for staff based on performance evaluations and identified needs. Encourage and support staff in pursuing additional certifications and higher education opportunities related to early childhood education. Family Engagement Build and foster trusting partnerships with families; serve as a role model for these types of relationships for staff. Facilitate meetings with families when children have outstanding developmental or behavioral needs. Recruit new families for our program through tabling, advertising in the school community, and hosting recruitment events Record Maintenance, Screening, and Assessment Observe students as part of the internal referral process to determine interim plans and service referral needs. Professional Development Collaborate with the Team in planning, coordinating, and implementing a wide range of diverse, applicable, and creative professional development opportunities for all staff .
