About Mentor A Promise:

Mentor A Promise is a non-profit organization, and our mission is to provide socio-emotional learning, academic support, and mentorship to students in temporary housing and facing housing instability. We partner with family temporary housing sites across New York, educational institutions, and community organizations to create a strong support network for young people experiencing homelessness, helping them overcome challenges and forge their own path to success. Position Overview:

As a Writer, you will be play a very important role in communicating our work within our community and other outlets.

Key Responsibilities:

· Read and write short stories for social media and other outlets

· Assist with grant preparation, including research, correspondence, and maintaining document archives

· Prepare publication materials and keeping supervisors apprised of the status of projects and upcoming deadlines

· Revise, edit, and/or proofread grant proposals materials prepared by supervisors

· Manage all daily content production for assigned set of websites and works with supervisors

· Pitch, report and write news articles

Position Requirements:

· Strong experience writing different types of content and materials

· Skilled in working independently and as part of a team

· Able to demonstrate initiative, professionalism and attention to detail

· Ability to transform complicated policy issues into generally understandable messages

Desired Qualifications:

· Excellent oral and written communication skills

· Clear, concise, and accurate writing, editing and proofing skills

· Openness to feedback and a desire to learn and grow
