Summary: The Community Table provides free hot meals to individuals and families in need, Monday through Friday, and some Saturdays. As a Community Table Volunteer, you will assist in preparing, plating, and serving meals to clients, while ensuring a clean and welcoming environment. Volunteers play a crucial role in ensuring that all community members receive a nutritious meal. Key Responsibilities: Meal Preparation and Serving: Assist in preparing boxed meals, which include a hot meal and a drink. Distribute meals to individuals who come to the Community Table. Ensure food is prepared safely and distributed promptly. Sanitation and Cleanliness: Sweep and mop floors to maintain a clean work environment. Wash dishes, utensils, and kitchen tools after meal preparation. Check and restock bathrooms to ensure they are clean and supplied for both staff and volunteers. Stocking and Food Preparation: Stock pantry shelves with food supplies as needed. Assist with cutting meats and produce for meal preparation. Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting, bending, and moving supplies. Hours of Operation: Volunteers are asked to arrive between 8:00 AM - 9:00 AM Meals are served between 11:00 AM - 12:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some Saturday shifts available. Skills & Qualifications: A heart for serving others and a commitment to supporting the community. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and follow food safety guidelines. Strong teamwork skills to collaborate with other volunteers and staff. Training: Ms. Shannon, the Community Table Supervisor, will oversee the volunteer training to ensure smooth operations and quality service. Join Us as a Fill-in Volunteer! Do you enjoy new adventures or have free time you'd love to use helping your community? If so, SCCM has the perfect opportunity for you! We are currently looking for fill-in volunteers to help when our regular volunteers are unavailable due to illness, vacation, or scheduling conflicts. As a fill-in, you’ll have the flexibility to choose the locations and roles that suit you best. You might be trained in multiple areas or focus on just one-it's entirely up to you! Potential Roles Include: Warehouse (Albemarle): Accept donations, sort and stock items on shelves, prepare food boxes, perform light cleaning, and more. Pantry (Norwood or Albemarle): Assist clients with their shopping needs, prepare monthly food boxes by weight, help clients carry their food to their cars, and keep the pantry clean. Clothing Closet (Albemarle): Sort through donated items, hang and price clothing, place items on the showroom floor, and take unsellable items to the "mish" truck. Light cleaning as needed. Community Table (Norwood or Albemarle): Prepare daily lunches, fill cups with tea and water, distribute food boxes and drinks to clients, and assist with light cleaning duties. We Offer Flexibility! Summary: The Norwood Food Pantry primarily serves senior residents who have difficulty accessing the Albemarle Pantry. Volunteers play a key role in ensuring that clients receive their monthly food boxes, which include both pre-packaged items and government-provided food. This role involves assisting with stocking, packing, and distributing food, while maintaining an organized and welcoming environment. Key Responsibilities: Client Assistance: Greet clients who come in on a first-come, first-served basis. Distribute pre-packaged food boxes and government-provided items to clients. Assist clients in gathering any additional items as needed. Stocking and Organizing: Stock shelves with food and supplies to ensure availability for clients. Keep the pantry clean and organized to maintain a welcoming environment. Packing and Weighing Food: Pack food boxes for distribution, ensuring they meet the necessary weight requirements. Weigh the food in the boxes to ensure proper distribution amounts. Requirements: Must be able to work with a partner (2-person minimum per shift). Ability to lift and carry boxes weighing up to 25-50lbs. Hours of Operation: Mondays, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM (except holidays) Skills & Qualifications: Strong teamwork skills and the ability to collaborate with other volunteers.
