The Grocery Delivery driver will be an essential part of the food pantry team. These volunteers will help us to reach homebound individuals who are unable to utilize personal or public transportation to retrieve their groceries from the food pantry. We will rely on our delivery drivers to help make dependable and joyful deliveries. If you have two hours per month to serve other and make a real impact-we have a job for you! Tasks · Pick-up items from Bishop Sullivan Center’s food pantry that include: non-perishable, dairy, bakery, produce and protein items. · Load items into your vehicle and receive your prepared route with client names and addresses. · Call clients to confirm that they will be at the residence for delivery. · Driver to the client’s home, pull the correct items from your vehicle. · Leave the items in front of the client’s front door. Competencies · Volunteer must be able to push/pull/lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis · Empathetically listen, while maintaining boundaries consistent with agency guidelines · Passionate about serving pantry patrons · Adaptable and flexible · Easily approachable · Enjoys organizing to help identify/institute efficiencies · Ability to be trained in a fast-paced atmosphere

The Light Maintenance volunteer will assist in maintain the buildings and ground that comprise the Bishop Sullivan Center campuses. Tasks Carry out a variety of planned activities needed to fix, maintain, and keep the buildings in good working order. This may include replacing lightbulbs, assisting with grounds upkeep, assist with larger maintenance project according to skills. · Identify any preventative maintenance solutions, discuss with Director of Operations and come up with strategies to help achieve these solutions. · Help identify volunteer projects and assist in obtaining supplies. · General improvements such as painting, maintaining furniture and fixing minor cosmetic issues Competencies · Experience with DIY or general maintenance tasks · Specialist skills such as plumbing, electrician, HVAC a HUGE plus, but not required · Able to safely use hand and power tools · Able to keep a log of maintenance performed · Adaptable and flexible · Easily approachable · Ability to be trained in a fast-paced atmosphere

We are in need of a couple of great long-term volunteers for our Troost Food Pantry. Work with some of the best, friendliest, and client-centered staff in the metro! We are seeing a huge increase in the families receiving food from our pantries and we NEED your help! Shifts begin at 9 a.m. and conclude at 12:00 p.m. Currently, we are in need of volunteers for Monday and Thursday mornings. Volunteer Purpose The Food Pantry Volunteer will work with the Troost Food Pantry Manager to serve the needs of our guests/clients through monthly food distribution. The volunteer will load carts to be taken to guest vehicles, load guest vehicles, and make the guests feel welcome. Tasks Load carts and safely transport guest/client items to their vehicles Load vehicles according to guest/client instructions Observe all food safety regulations as guided by staff Ability to stage items in an organized fashion Clean/organize pantry Interface with staff and guests/clients in a manner consistent with the agency’s mission Competencies Volunteer must be able to push/pull/lift 15-20+ pounds on a consistent basis Empathetically listen, while maintaining boundaries consistent with agency guidelines Passionate about serving pantry guests Adaptable and flexible Easily approachable Enjoys organizing to help identify/institute efficiencies Ability to be trained in a fast-paced atmosphere

Volunteer Purpose Bishop Sullivan Center operates with a small staff-but we are doing BIG things to support our community. This volunteer would provide an essential support to development and executive staff. The volunteer will work with staff to file important paperwork, issue donor thank you letters, scan documents and provide general organizational support. Tasks File confidential paperwork according to staff direction. Paperwork will include Human Resources and donor information. Scan documents into folders or databases. Assist in generating and sending donor thank you letters using established procedures. Competencies · Detail oriented · Ability to handle confidential information · Adaptable and flexible · Easily approachable · Ability to be trained in a fast-paced atmosphere Training/Supervision · The volunteer will be trained and supervised by the executive director and other staff as required. Volunteer will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.

One City Cafe at Bishop Sullivan Center is located in the heart of Midtown near 39th and Troost. As of today, One City Cafe has served over 71,000 in 2024. We use 150 volunteers each week to make our cafe one of the most welcoming places in the KC. A brief information and training session is provided at the beginning (about 5 minutes) and then you are ready to SERVE! Join us! Volunteers: Prepare lunch sandwiches from 9:30-11:00 a.m. each day. Serve lunch to our guests from 11:30 a.m.-1:15 p.m. Welcome guests to dinner from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Interested in coming as an individual? Use our handy dandy sign-up. Intrested in coming as a group?
