The Grocery Delivery driver will be an essential part of the food pantry team. These volunteers will help us to reach homebound individuals who are unable to utilize personal or public transportation to retrieve their groceries from the food pantry. We will rely on our delivery drivers to help make dependable and joyful deliveries. If you have two hours per month to serve other and make a real impact-we have a job for you!

Tasks

• · Pick-up items from Bishop Sullivan Center’s food pantry that include: non-perishable, dairy, bakery, produce and protein items.
• · Load items into your vehicle and receive your prepared route with client names and addresses.
• · Call clients to confirm that they will be at the residence for delivery.
• · Driver to the client’s home, pull the correct items from your vehicle.
• · Leave the items in front of the client’s front door.

Competencies

• · Volunteer must be able to push/pull/lift 25+ pounds on a consistent basis
• · Empathetically listen, while maintaining boundaries consistent with agency guidelines
• · Passionate about serving pantry patrons
• · Adaptable and flexible
• · Easily approachable
• · Enjoys organizing to help identify/institute efficiencies
• · Ability to be trained in a fast-paced atmosphere
