We are dedicated to serving unhoused individuals in the Metropolitan D.C. area by providing essential supplies and support through our Care Bags and Care Meals initiatives. Mission: To provide dignity to the unhoused one Care Bag at a time. Position Overview: Opal's Heart seeks a creative and motivated Content Creator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong passion for storytelling, social media, and content development. As a Content Creator, you will be responsible for crafting compelling and engaging content across various platforms to elevate our brand, engage our audience, and support our fundraising and outreach efforts. Key Responsibilities: Content Development: Create and curate high-quality content including blog posts, social media updates, newsletters, videos, and graphics that align with our mission and resonate with our target audience. Social Media Management: Manage and grow Opal’s Heart’s social media presence by developing and executing a content calendar, engaging with followers, and tracking performance metrics. Storytelling: Identify and share impactful stories from the communities we serve, our volunteers, and donors to highlight the importance of our work. Collaborate with Teams: Work closely with the fundraising, outreach, and program teams to ensure content aligns with organizational goals and messaging. Campaign Support: Assist in creating content for fundraising campaigns, events, and other initiatives. SEO & Analytics: Optimize content for SEO and track performance using analytics tools to refine content strategies. Qualifications: Proven experience in content creation, social media management, or digital marketing. Strong writing, editing, and storytelling skills. Proficiency with social media platforms (e.g., Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn). Experience with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite) and video editing software is a plus. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote environment. Passion for nonprofit work and a commitment to Opal’s Heart’s mission. Job Overview: Opal’s Heart is seeking an experienced and empathetic HR Manager to lead our human resources function and ensure a supportive, inclusive, and productive work environment for our team. As the HR Manager, you will play a key role in developing policies, managing recruitment, supporting staff development, and building an organizational culture that aligns with our mission of compassion and dignity. Key Responsibilities: Talent Acquisition & Recruitment: Oversee recruiting efforts, including developing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, and conducting interviews to build a team that aligns with our values and mission. Onboarding & Offboarding: Manage the onboarding process for new hires to ensure a welcoming and comprehensive orientation, as well as offboarding procedures to maintain organizational integrity and compassion. Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor for volunteer staff, addressing concerns and conflicts, fostering a respectful workplace, and promoting open communication. Policy Development: Create, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures that are in line with organizational values, local regulations, and industry standards. Performance Management: Establish and maintain performance review systems, assist managers with performance improvement plans, and foster employee development. Training & Development: Design and implement training programs that support the professional and personal growth of staff, focusing on topics like diversity, sensitivity, and working with unhoused populations. Compliance: Ensure organizational compliance with labor laws and regulations and stay updated on HR best practices. Qualifications: HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus. Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in human resources, preferably within a nonprofit or social services setting. Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulatory compliance. Opal’s Heart operates without paid staff or a physical location; all our efforts are driven by passionate volunteers who work from their homes and vehicles. Mission: To provide dignity to the unhoused one Care Bag at a time. Job Description: Opal's Heart is in search of a volunteer Board Member who has a deep commitment to serving the unhoused community and a dedication to propelling our mission forward. This pivotal role involves providing robust fiduciary oversight, spearheading fundraising initiatives, and bolstering the public image of our organization. As a Volunteer Board Member at Opal's Heart, you will be instrumental in guiding our organization's trajectory and achievements. You will join a team committed to managing our operations, driving fundraising activities, and formulating strategic plans. This role is perfectly suited for someone who has a fervent desire to aid the unhoused community and is eager to dedicate their expertise, time, and resources to advance our cause. Duties: Understand and advocate for Opal’s Heart's mission, policies, programs, and needs. Actively promote the organization and leverage personal connections to support fundraising efforts. Participate in board meetings and contribute to decision-making processes. Serve on at least one committee and actively engage in committee work. Maintain confidentiality regarding all internal matters of the organization. Uphold legal duties and ensure compliance with nonprofit governance. Qualifications: A strong commitment to the mission of Opal’s Heart. Previous experience in non-profit governance, fundraising, community outreach, or a related field is preferred. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Willingness to dedicate time to attend board meetings, participate in committees, and engage in outreach efforts. Residents of Prince George’s County, MD, or the Metropolitan D.C. area are strongly preferred. Time Commitment: Board members are expected to commit to a 2-year term. Participation in quarterly board meetings (virtually or in person). Active involvement in committees and organizational activities as needed.
