Job Overview:
Opal’s Heart is seeking an experienced and empathetic HR Manager to lead our human resources function and ensure a supportive, inclusive, and productive work environment for our team. As the HR Manager, you will play a key role in developing policies, managing recruitment, supporting staff development, and building an organizational culture that aligns with our mission of compassion and dignity.
Key Responsibilities:
Talent Acquisition & Recruitment: Oversee recruiting efforts, including developing job descriptions, sourcing candidates, and conducting interviews to build a team that aligns with our values and mission.
Onboarding & Offboarding: Manage the onboarding process for new hires to ensure a welcoming and comprehensive orientation, as well as offboarding procedures to maintain organizational integrity and compassion.
Employee Relations: Serve as a trusted advisor for volunteer staff, addressing concerns and conflicts, fostering a respectful workplace, and promoting open communication.
Policy Development: Create, implement, and enforce HR policies and procedures that are in line with organizational values, local regulations, and industry standards.
Performance Management: Establish and maintain performance review systems, assist managers with performance improvement plans, and foster employee development.
Training & Development: Design and implement training programs that support the professional and personal growth of staff, focusing on topics like diversity, sensitivity, and working with unhoused populations.
Compliance: Ensure organizational compliance with labor laws and regulations and stay updated on HR best practices.
Qualifications:
HR certification (PHR, SPHR, SHRM-CP, or SHRM-SCP) is a plus.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum 3-5 years of experience in human resources, preferably within a nonprofit or social services setting.
Strong understanding of HR best practices, employment laws, and regulatory compliance.
Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport across all levels of the organization.
