Intern Position: Emergency Response Team Member Department: Victim Services Program: Emergency Response Sexual Assault Support Director: Sherry Brockway Hours: On-Call Location: On-site or Local Hospital ______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mission Statement: Eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all. Primary Function: Provide emotional support and information to sexual and domestic assault, and human trafficking victim/survivors, and their family members/friends. Qualifications: Must be currently enrolled in BA or MA related field Available to participate in on-call schedule Ability to respond within 60 minutes of a page Successfully complete all background checks Demonstrate patience and a non-judgmental attitude in relation to the survivor’s interests and attitudes Ability to remain calm and work under pressure Proficiency in Spanish is preferred but not required Statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. Responsibilities: Respect the confidentiality of all client/agency information Respond to pages when YWCA receives calls reporting a domestic assault, sexual assault, or human trafficking from police and hospitals Provide support and advocacy to primary and secondary victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking Adhere to the policies and procedures of YWCA Listen with compassion to someone in crisis Demonstrate patience and a non-judgmental attitude in relation to the survivor’s interests and attitudes Listen with compassion to someone in crisis Complete 15-hour Emergency Response training provided by YWCA Kalamazoo Training Requirements: Sexual Assault Nurse Exam (SANE) and Emergency Response Team 15-hour training provided by YWCA in collaboration with other agencies Volunteer Orientation Training Covers: Domestic assault laws and information on legal processes. Information on evidence collection/medical concerns. Power and control wheel and common reactions to assault. Issuers of diversity. Basic empathy skills. Roleplay Self-care for caregivers/support providers.

Primary Function: Provide support and assistance with cleaning, peeling, slicing and dicing, and packaging fresh fruits and vegetables. Kitchen organization and sanitation. This position is ideal if you enjoy working in the kitchen. Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age Must have basic kitchen skills. Must be able to lift up to 10-15 pounds. Volunteer Position: Food Service Department: Improving Lives of Children Program: Children's Dreamery Center Director: Food Service Director Supervisor: Food Service Coordinator Location: The Children's Dreamery Centers at Edison and/or Downtown Sites Hours: 3-hour shift _______________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mission Statement: Eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Primary Function: The Food Service Assistant helps with the preparation and delivery of food to classrooms. You help make food exciting and educational to children and families. You provide support to the Dreamery Center's kitchen staff and help with clean-up. This position is ideal if you enjoy preparing food and being creative with meals. Qualifications: Must be 18 years of age, or 17 years of age and currently in a vocation for Early Education Must have basic kitchen skills Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds Excellent communication skills Must be able to work with people of diverse backgrounds. Training Requirements: Kitchen Orientation YWCA Improving Lives of Children Program Orientation Volunteer Orientation Child Care Licensing Rules: R 400.8125 volunteer requirements. Rule 125. (1) All volunteers shall provide appropriate care and supervision of children at all times. (2) All volunteers shall act in a manner that is conducive to the welfare of children. (3) All supervised volunteers shall receive a public sex offender registry (PSOR) clearance before having any contact with a child in care. A copy of this clearance must be kept on file at the center. (4) A licensee shall have a written policy regarding the screening and supervision of volunteers, including volunteers who are parents of a child in care. The policy must include a statement that any individual registered on the public sex offender registry (PSOR) is prohibited from having contact with any child in care. (5) A written statement must be signed and dated by volunteers before volunteering indicating all of the following information: (a) The individual is aware that abuse and neglect of children are against the law. (b) The individual has been informed of the center’s policies on child abuse and neglect. (c) The individual knows that all staff and volunteers are required by law to immediately report suspected abuse and neglect to children’s protective services. R 400.8128 Staff; volunteer; tuberculosis. Rule 128. A center shall keep on file at the center evidence to verify that each child care staff member and each volunteer who has contact with children at least 4 hours per week for more than 2 consecutive weeks is free from communicable tuberculosis (TB). Verification of TB status is required within 1 year before employment or volunteering. History: 2013 AACS; 2019 AACS. R 400.8131 Professional development requirements. Rule 131. (1) The center shall provide an orientation about the center’s policies and practices and these administrative rules.

Volunteer Position: Sexual Assault Nurse Exam Supportive Department: Victim Services Program: Emergency Response Services Director: Sherry Brockway Location: On-Call ____________________________________________________________________________________________________ Mission Statement: Eliminate racism, empower women, and promote peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. Primary Function: When you receive a call during your shift, you will meet the victim/survivor at the exam site and provide emotional support and information to the survivors and their families and/or friends. A six-month commitment to this position is preferred. Exceptions to the position commitment must be approved by the program director. Qualifications: 18 years of age or older (Male and Female) Ability to respond to a call within 30 minutes, and Be available for calls three times a month, Monday - Friday, between 5:00 pm, and 8:00 am, on weekends and holidays from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Exceptions must be approved by the program director. Excellent verbal and non-verbal Communication Skills Volunteers contract to serve three (3) shifts a month or a minimum of one (1) year.
