Discover the JOY of helping someone smile! We are a 100% volunteer run organization that shares our collection of over 60 fire trucks and hundreds of collectable toys with our Mid-Michigan community. A museum guide and docent helps welcome visitors and answer questions they might have. We will help prepare you for the job, and we promise - it's a lot of fun. We are hosting a welcome/training session in March in preparation for the May through October 2024 Season. If you miss that session, that's OK - it's just an easy way to learn more about us. We work with YOU to help match a Saturday or Sunday (noon to 4pm) session that helps our visitors. We depend on our docents to be faithful to keeping to their commitments, because our volunteers are the heartbeat of what keeps our doors open to the public. People of all ages and walks of life help out. Men, women, seniors, college students, busy professionals, former firefighters, and some that have no experience with the fire service at all. You are WELCOME - please reach out to connect with us!

Discover the JOY of helping someone smile! We are a 100% volunteer run organization that shares our collection of over 60 fire trucks and hundreds of collectable toys with our Mid-Michigan community. We are looking for people who are willing to maintain and repair our fire apparatus and drive them to various events within Mid-Michigan. Apparatus range in age and condition from the early 1910's through the 1990s. We have a core group of mechanics that are willing to share what they know, and your knowledge and skillsets are welcome so that our group's knowledge can expand. Although we are open to the public May through October, we can do repairs and maintenance in the winter. It is also a great time for us to plan. So if you are reaching out before May, this is a good time to connect so we're ready when the busy season hits. We have a general volunteer session in March, for those who just want to drop by and meet us before making a commitment. People of all ages and walks of life help out. We have a blend of volunteers - some have fire service experience, some not, some are retired, others are college students. Reach out to volunteer, today!

Mission Statement
The goal and mission of the museum is to celebrate and preserve the rich firefighting history of the Great Lakes Bay region. The museum hosts a unique collection of firefighting equipment from the mid 1800's to modern times and is complemented by a collection of collectible toys. Several apparatus are operational, including the 1922 Model T pumper, and rides are offered to guests on fair-weather days. The museum is also home to the largest fire apparatus ever used, the FDNY Super Pumper.
Description
A Board of Directors oversee the day-to-day operations of the museum. The museum is 100% volunteer run and relies on grants and donations for funding. Volunteers help secure grants, help with daily operations, and fix trucks so they can be showcased in parades and local car shows.
