Mission Statement

It is our mission to affirm the cycle of life by enhancing the quality of living for those at the end of life. The Silverado standard is to care compassionately for patients and families and to empower those we serve to have quality of life options that afford them comfort and dignity.

Description

Silverado Hospice honors the value of each life by empowering the patient and family to make supported choices in end-of-life care, enhancing comfort, relieving suffering and supporting effective grieving. We believe that Hospice patients have the right to continue life to the fullest extent possible according to their circumstances, and in fostering opportunities for growth and fulfillment. We further recognize patients and families decision-making rights in relation to continuing medical treatments and their right to withdraw treatment whose benefits are outweighed by their burdens. Silverado believes in equal opportunity and non-discrimination for our clients, our associates, and our community.

I am amazed at the support I received when I first started volunteering at Silverado. My journey at Silverado would not have been possible if it were not for the caring and friendly staff. I feel very welcomed every time I visit. Every patient is treated with utmost care and dignity. Even the dogs are well cared for! I highly recommend this organization.

During the voluntary service, I witnessed how the staffs honestly and sympathetically served patients.

This is a great experience to not only help others but help better understand yourself! It can be hard at times to deal with the ones grieving and on life support but that aside, what really counts is the help and love you are giving to them by helping them out. Its well worth it in the long run and is an lifetime experience you'll forever remember.

This is a wonderful opportunity to not only help others, but also discover yourself. It is not easy to deal with the end-of-life stage, but Silverado helps us through training with patience and care. It is a home-like environment. With all honesty this volunteer organization is absolutely the best. I suggest anyone who wants to give a caring heart to someone in need, come to Silverado. =)

Silverado sets the standard for excellence amongst senior care facilities. When I first started volunteering with the program, I had many concerns about how I would go about interacting with a dementia patient. The experience with individuals at the end of their lives was very new and foreign to me. Silverado's staff was very supportive and helped ease my transition into the program. The nursing staff is full of love and the patients really do treasure the attention you give them, even if they cannot express it verbally. Hours are extremely flexible and I feel very welcomed every time I visit my patient. There will be moments of sadness but the satisfaction of knowing that your presence was valued is immeasurable.
