Description
SERVING YOUR COUNTRY - The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary is known as "America's Volunteer Lifesavers" and have been promoting boating safety since our creation by an act of Congress in 1939. As part of "Team Coast Guard" we are under the Department of Homeland Security along with the U.S. Coast Guard. We support the U.S. Coast Guard in nearly every mission that the Coast Guard is tasked with except Law Enforcement. Some of our missions include safety patrols on the water, air support utilizing privately owned aircraft certified as CG facilities, culinary services including support at CG units and aboard CG Cutters, vessel safety checks, computer and IT services and development, radio communications including CG watch standing, boating safety instruction and many more opportunities. Free training is provided to members. We are part of a military organization and uniforms are part of the personal costs involved. Anyone 17 years of age or older may apply for membership. You must be a U.S. Citizen to become a member. There is an in depth application process including a back ground check. We are proud to support the U.S. Coast Guard and serve our country!
