Volunteer Type: Saturday Afternoons (with Holiday Availability) Summary: We are looking for an enthusiastic and knowledgeable Tour Guide to join our team at Museum of Idaho. The ideal candidate will have a passion for both science and history and be able to engage visitors through informative and exciting tours of our flagship exhibit Way Out West. As a Tour Guide, you will play a crucial role in educating and entertaining visitors of all ages and backgrounds while showcasing the museum’s exhibits. This is a weekly role requiring availability on Saturday afternoons and during the holiday seasons. Bilingual (especially English/Spanish) candidates encouraged to apply Key Responsibilities: Lead guided tours through the Way out West exhibits, providing detailed and engaging commentary. Ensure visitors have an enjoyable and educational experience by answering questions and providing insight into the exhibits. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of museum exhibits and any special events or exhibits. Engage visitors of all ages, including school age groups, families, and individual guests, in an interactive and accessible manner. Assist with museum events, educational programs, and special exhibitions as needed. Monitor visitor behavior and ensure a safe and welcoming environment. Stay available for someholiday periods, including during school breaks and peak seasons, to meet the needs of visitors.

Volunteer Opportunity: On-Call Event Assistant Are you passionate about events and helping things run smoothly? We are looking for a dedicated, enthusiastic volunteer to assist our Event Coordinator on an on-call basis. Your role will support in making events a success while working on evenings and occasional holidays. What You’ll Do: Assist the Event Coordinator with various tasks before, during, and after events. Help with event setup and breakdown. Provide logistical support, manage guest lists, and assist with any event-related needs. Ensure that everything runs according to plan, providing a great experience for all attendees. Qualifications: Flexible availability, especially evenings and some holidays. Join our team at the Museum of Idaho as a gallery attendant, docent, or tour guide! Share your passion for history and science by guiding visitors through captivating exhibits. Help inspire curiosity, engage with diverse audiences, and be a part of an educational community. Schedules available: (Business hours are from 10 am - 6 pm) Monday - Saturday: 10 AM - 2 PM, OR 2 PM - 6 PM Sunday: 1 PM - 5 PM Requirements: MOI volunteers must be 16 or older, complete an interview, and be willing to pass a background check. Expectations include attending all required trainings and committing to 3-4 hours per week or a special schedule arranged with the Volunteer Coordinator. Volunteer positions: Note: all positions require training, and some require more than others. Gallery Attendants: watch for the safety of visitors and museum property in a specific area. Help visitors navigate to different areas of the museum as desired Docents: interact with visitors using hands-on, interactive materials at specific stations Safety and Security: rove throughout the building and watch for the safety of visitors and artifacts Tour Guide Docent: Lead scheduled tour groups in addition to docent work Education: Support educational programs, staff the Discovery Room, and assist the Director of Education.
