Are you looking for an activity that incorporates teamwork and helps your community in the process? With us, you can check off both those boxes! We are looking for groups that want to help the Pike Market Food Bank from the comfort of their own site! These projects include ordering and packing supplies together to make completed bags with your team. These supply bags are then used to help the three programs the Food Bank has: Grocery Distribution : This is our main program that provides fresh produce, canned/dry goods, and other grocery items to all who visit us on a weekly basis. Home Delivery : This program is geared toward people who can’t visit us safely due to being homebound or disabled. We provide a weekly bag of groceries right to their door! No Cook : This program is focused on providing ready-to-eat items for our visitors who do not have consistent access to kitchens or are homeless. IDEAL Groups Have/Are... At least 4 participants Excited to work together as a team At least 2 weeks before their ideal event date Able to deliver the completed packing project down to the Food Bank WE WILL... Go over the different types of packing projects Aid you through all the steps in the events life-cycle from planning to delivery Work with you to choose the best date for the event

If you're looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community, the Pike Market Food Bank could use your help! We're in need of a reliable driver every Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday to collect food donations from nearby grocery partners. As a volunteer, you'll get to visit a designated store weekly to retrieve donations and transport them back to the food bank. It's a really important role that requires some training, sincere commitment, and reliability ! You'll need to have your own vehicle with enough space to fit 10-15 banana boxes of food and be able to lift at least 50 lbs. We would like volunteers in this role to commit to a minimum of 6 months . Additionally, volunteers are required to have a valid driver's license, pass a background check, and have some availability in the morning or afternoon. The Pike Market Food Bank is excited to welcome you as part of our dedicated volunteer team!

This role is crucial to our mission and requires training, a strong commitment, and reliability. We ask that volunteers commit to at least 4 months. In downtown Seattle, the Pike Market Senior Center strives to make each day better and safer for older adults; the Pike Market Food Bank serves people of all ages who face hunger. Together, we provide services, activities, and support that lead to more self sufficient and fulfilling lives.
Description
The Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank is located in the historic Pike Place Market. We have been serving our neighbors in the heart of Seattle since 1978.
The Senior Center serves people age 55 and up. Membership is free and there are no fees for meals, services or regular activities. While people from all walks of life are members of PMSC, we are pioneers in offering senior center programming to elders who are homeless. The Food Bank serves people of any age, offering free groceries, ready-to-eat food for clients experiencing homelessness, and home delivery for qualified residents of Downtown Seattle. We serve 800 in-person grocery clients weekly and distribute over 300 grocery deliveries.
