Are you looking for a meaningful way to give back to your community? The Pike Market Food Bank needs your help!
We are seeking a dependable Grocery Rescue Assistant to join our team every Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday. In this essential role, you will collect food donations from local grocery partners. Your responsibilities will include visiting a designated store each week, retrieving donations, transporting them back to the food bank, and sorting items alongside our onsite team.
This role is crucial to our mission and requires training, a strong commitment, and reliability. We ask that volunteers commit to at least 4 months.
Requirements:
- Pass a background check
- Comfortable lifting at least 40 lbs
- Able to handle repetitive lifting
- Availability in the morning or afternoon
Shifts available:
- Mondays: 9 am - 1 pm
- Tuesdays: 9 am - 11:30 am
- Wednesays: 11:30 am - 1:30 pm

In downtown Seattle, the Pike Market Senior Center strives to make each day better and safer for older adults; the Pike Market Food Bank serves people of all ages who face hunger. Together, we provide services, activities, and support that lead to more self sufficient and fulfilling lives.
Description
The Pike Market Senior Center & Food Bank is located in the historic Pike Place Market. We have been serving our neighbors in the heart of Seattle since 1978.
The Senior Center serves people age 55 and up. Membership is free and there are no fees for meals, services or regular activities. While people from all walks of life are members of PMSC, we are pioneers in offering senior center programming to elders who are homeless.
The Food Bank serves people of any age, offering free groceries, ready-to-eat food for clients experiencing homelessness, and home delivery for qualified residents of Downtown Seattle. We serve 800 in-person grocery clients weekly and distribute over 300 grocery deliveries.
