Bloom (formerly Image for Success) is a program of YWCA Golden Gate Silicon Valley that provides two weeks free clothing to those in need seeking a life of self-reliance. We also provide each client with a hygiene kit, undergarments, shoes and accessories. Bloom is an essential nonprofit agency that has been serving the residents of Marin County over the past 20 years. Bloom serves low-income & underprivileged working populations referred by supporting social services agencies at no cost. Donation Intake Volunteers ensure that large quantities of product move through review, assessment, repair, assignment, and proper placement within Bloom. This role interacts with the public when receiving donations from the community and requires great communication skills and a love of interacting regularly with others. Major Responsibilities: Receives donations during scheduled donation hours. Process donated clothing to ensure that it is properly placed in boutiques, consignment stores, retail store or sent out to partner agencies, this includes sorting and steaming Assists in transferring clothing to and from off-site storage units and pick up sites. Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly donation intake space and ensure the Client Boutique is adequately stocked. Work in compliance with all legal requirements, and organizational and departmental policies, procedures and standards. Required Qualifications: A good eye for fashion and knowledge of brands, garment quality, and clothing resale. Interest in, and a commitment to, continuous learning about client-centered approach and empowering others to lead lives of self-reliance. Ability to work as a member of a team, be open to feedback, and seek guidance, direction and input from others. Ability to practice cultural humility, i.e., maintain an interpersonal approach that is other-oriented in relation to aspects of cultural identity that are most important to the person. Ability to work with/support individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Commitment to developing knowledge, skills and abilities to better connect with individuals and communities, and to gaining more insight into personal biases and identities. This includes, and is not limited to, treating all people with respect and dignity, recognizing and appreciating cultural differences, and working to interact with greater cultural sensitivity. Ability to be non-judgmental, open, honest and calm, and maintain professional boundaries. Training & Other Requirements: Participate in orientation and training Physically able to stand for the length of the shift (approx. 3 hours), bend, kneel, and lift up to 40 lbs. For volunteers that transport clothing items: Valid California driver’s license and auto insurance; Clearance of a Motor Vehicle Record report with the DMV This volunteer position requires a Covid-19 vaccination due to the in-person interfacing required, and to promote the health and safety of others at YWCA locations and our community. Clearance on a background check, including DOJ & FBI fingerprinting Completion of all policies and procedures documentation.

Personal Stylist Volunteers work with Bloom clients during private appointments to choose a wardrobe that suits their professional and personal needs. The Personal Stylist is responsible for creating a collaborative and nurturing environment that helps build self-esteem. Major Responsibilities: Welcome the client and help them to feel comfortable in the styling session, explain the length of time they’ll work together, and provide an overview of the styling session. Cooperatively identify the client’s clothing objectives, select clothing, and present various outfits to the client The client provides feedback, tries on the clothes, and ultimately selects a mix and match wardrobe of functional and flattering clothes that would last roughly two-weeks. Work in compliance with all legal requirements, and organizational and departmental policies, procedures and standards Required Qualifications: A good sense of fashion and attention to detail Strong customer service skills Ability to help clients with proper fitting as well as gaining confidence in how to dress appropriately for work. Self-starters, neat and organized. Flexibility and adaptability, with an ability to think on their feet. Ability to work as a member of a team, be open to feedback, and seek guidance, direction and input from others. Ability to practice cultural humility, i.e., maintain an interpersonal approach that is other-oriented in relation to aspects of cultural identity that are most important to the person. Ability to work with/support individuals from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. This volunteer position requires a Covid-19 vaccination due to the in-person interfacing required, and to promote the health and safety of others at YWCA locations and our community. Clearance on a background check, including DOJ & FBI fingerprinting. Completion of all policies and procedures documentation **Please note, at this time we are focusing on recruitment on stylists who are willing to style male-identified clients, children, and teens. We are open to additional women's stylists on a case-by-case basis if they are bringing in skills and perspectives that support diversity. Specifically, we are looking for stylists who have Spanish language skills, are a person of color, or under the age of 25 (youth perspectives on current trends & fashion). Retail Support Volunteers help run the day-to-day operations of the Bloom retail store, which is open to the public and whose proceeds support the mission of the Bloom program. Major Responsibilities: Greet, assist, and direct customers with high level of customer service Provide accurate information (e.g. product features, pricing and after-sales services) Answer customer’s questions about specific products/services Cross-sell products Work in compliance with all legal requirements, and organizational and departmental policies, procedures and standards. Required Qualifications: Retail/ Sales experience, including cash register experience. Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills Ability to multi-task Interest in, and a commitment to, continuous learning about personal empowerment and supporting individuals transitioning to a life of self-reliance. Please apply to join our team of Sexual Assault/Domestic Violence/Human Trafficking Counselors! Every day, dedicated YWCA GGSV Volunteers help empower survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking. Our volunteer counselors are caring, passionate, and talented. They answer calls to our Support Line, accompany individuals to hospitals, courts, and community locations, and provide information, advocacy and referral services. They conduct in-person counseling and co-facilitate groups for children. Their participation helps make it possible for survivors of all kinds, children, and families to flourish. Bilingual Spanish-English speaking volunteers are in high need at the moment and will have their training fee waived with a minimum volunteering commitment of 100-200 hours (varies by program). The steps to becoming a volunteer counselor include submitting an online application, completing an interview, and upon acceptance to the training, completion of the 75-hour SA/DV/HT Counselor Certification training. Clearance of a background check, and a negative TB test are also required. Our volunteer positions also require proof of the COVID-19 vaccination due to the in-person interfacing required, and to promote the health and safety of others at YWCA locations and our community. Winter 2025 Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence & Human Trafficking Counselor Certification Training Training will be held in-person in San Jose 6 Week-Long Course, some weekdays, some Saturdays Winter training schedule is still TBD and will be updated here and on our website once published.
