Pet Therapy Visitor

Bring a smile to someone who could really use a day brightener by bringing in your Pet Therapy dog for a visit! Some furry friends are needed at Courage Kenny Rehabilitation Institute’s Transitional Rehabilitation Program (TRP)!! We provide intensive specialized neurological rehabilitation transitioning between acute care and return home or to another alternative community living setting. The TRP program provides holistic, comprehensive inpatient neurological rehabilitation services to adults recovering from neurological conditions caused by illness or injury. Pet therapy visits offer a much needed diversion from the patient's routine and provides an enjoyable activity that is beneficial for both the patient and family members. Visiting Pet Therapy dogs can help to diminish the feeling of isolation and loneliness that so often accompanies being in an inpatient setting. Join us on a weekday evening or a Saturday! It is best if you can commit to 1-4 hours each week or every other week. Dogs must be certified through an established pet therapy program such as Pet Partners, Therapy Dogs International or Canine companions and be current on all vaccines. We prefer if you have had your dog for at least 1 year.

Adaptive Fitness Class -Volunteer - Stillwater

Volunteers assist our fitness instructor with an energetic group of teens and young adults with disabilities who work out together on their wellness goals. Held in our adaptive fitness center where our clients use our cardiovascular machines, strength training equipment, balance tools and more!! Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including face masks and eye shields are provided.

Share your love of the water, teaching others, and children by assisting our aquatic instructors with swim lessons for children in our warm, therapeutic 92 degree pool! The classes focuses on water exploration and beginning skills including floating, kicking, submerging and breath control before moving on to fundamental aquatic skills, stroke development, stroke improvement. You will enjoy the energy and enthusiasm of this class! Class Schedule: Monday's 5:00 - 6:30 pm Wednesday's 5:00 - 7:00 pm Thursday's5:00 - 7:00 pm Saturday's 8:30 - 10:00 am

Ski and Snowboard Volunteers needed for Courage Kenny's Adaptive Alpine Program

Sign up by Nov. 3 to volunteer for Allina Health Courage Kenny's adaptive ski and snowboard programs. Volunteers will receive instruction on adaptive equipment and techniques for teaching skiers/boarders with disabilities. Enjoy your winter on the slopes and give back to your community. 7-8 week commitment at the site of your choice. Training begins in Nov with 1 day of Dryland @ Hyland Hills and then 2 days of on the Hill in mid December. Program runs 2nd week of January to 1st week in March. We take Presidents Day weekend off. Neurological Disabilities/ Water Exercise Class (NeuroSplash)! Golden Valley

Description: Volunteer to help support participants who have a neurological disability in an instructor led exercise class in our warm water 92 degree therapeutic pool. Volunteers assist participants with entering and exiting the pool, retrieving equipment, helping participants execute exercises during class, and guiding them to be as independent as possible. This class utilizes shallow depth water only. Requirements: No Life Guard or WSI certification needed. A 3-month minimum commitment of one day per week is required. Age: 18 and older Tuesday's and Friday's 10:00 - 11:00 am
