This is a Volunteer Class Assistant position for our Puppy Training Classes . Do you love puppies? Love helping people? Become a class assistant! Volunteers get to work closely with Pet Resource Center clients and their puppies, and will be responsible for assisting the trainer. Volunteers help set-up and break-down before and after class, monitor animal interaction and behavior, assist clients with training exercises and cues, and answer client's questions. The purpose of this class is to keep puppies happily in their homes by addressing and correcting problems through teaching social skills and behavior cues. Through the course of the class, the human-canine bond is strengthened and pet owners are empowered to better understand and respond to their pets' needs. The ideal volunteer for this role is someone who is prompt, organized, a quick learner, comfortable receiving and giving direction/guidance, and of course, someone who enjoys interacting with people and puppies. Volunteers interested in this position will meet one-on-one with the trainer prior to acceptance into this role. Dog training/animal handling experience is preferred, but the trainer is willing to teach the right person!

Help check in pets for spay/neuter surgery and annual wellness appointments! Our check in booth gives you the opportunity to work directly with the Pets & People who visit PRCKC to receive care for their pet. Our clinic parking lot is run drive-thru style, so check in occurs outdoors via a climate-controlled booth. This is a fun and interactive way to help pet owners in our community (plus you get to say hi to lots of dogs and cats!). Shifts are Monday - Friday from 7:45am - 10am and 1pm - 4pm We ask volunteers to volunteer 3 hours per month. Training provided onsite!

The Pet Resource Center of Kansas City (PRCKC) is looking for people with excellent organizational skills, and/or a background in nursing or other medical work, to join our Surgical Support Prep team! PRCKC does a lot of important veterinary work through our Urgent Care, Dental Clinic, and high-volume Spay/Neuter Clinic. We are able to complete up to 80 spay/neuter surgeries a day! Our veterinary team has a high need for skilled volunteers to help clean, sanitize, organize and prepare surgical instruments. If you have a strong attention to detail, and the abaility to work efficiently and independently, our vet team would love to meet you. A background in nursing or other medical background is a plus!

Pet Resource Center of Kansas City holds a Pet Food Pantry twice a month (one Saturday and one Monday). Our Pet Food Pantry program provides basic pet supplies and pet food to pet owners in need in our community. All participants of our Pet Food Pantry are members of low-income households. Pet Food Pantry volunteers will help check clients into our Pet Food Pantry and assist with preparing and distributing pantry donations to clients. This is a great, direct way to help those in your community! This opportunity is open to individuals and small groups of no more than 5.

We are now taking our low cost pet vaccinations and resources to Olathe every Tuesday! We serve clients out of our mobile vaccination unit and are seeking volunteers to assist with customer service, handing out resources and answering questions. You may also help fill vaccines and organize paperwork for the vet team. This opportunity is every Tuesday from 9:30am - 2pm. Spanish speakers would be a plus but not a requirement!
