The Seattle Animal Foundation (SAF) is seeking a Development Chair to help raise awareness and funding for our organization. The Development Co-Chair is an integral part of our all-volunteer Board of Directors. This is an unpaid position with a 3-year term. The position requires around 3-5 hours of work weekly and attendance at monthly board meetings. The ideal candidate has experience with donor development and fundraising, sales and client relations, and database management, preferably for a nonprofit organization. They are excited to engage with and grow our current donor base. Attention to detail, self-organization, and the ability to thrive as part of a remote, small team environment are essential elements to this role. Committee Responsibilities: Fundraising Campaigns & Donor Acknowledgement: Oversee annual fundraising campaigns from start to finish, including GiveBig (April/May), Giving Tuesday (November/December), and a Year-End Appeal (November/December). Assist with the creation and distribution of direct mail solicitation letters, acknowledgement letters, and thank you cards, ensuring that correspondence is sent to donors in a timely manner. Donor Cultivation & Stewardship: In coordination with the Development Director, assist with portfolio management of donors to engage them in the impact of their giving. Establish and build relationships by planning and implementing activities with donors to connect them with SAS and the Foundation’s role in supporting the shelter’s mission and vision. Data Management & Analysis: Provide support to the Development Director for data management, including best practices for standard operating procedures, data entry and reporting, and donor analysis through eTapestry and Greater Giving. Create and track metrics for fundraising and engagement performance year over year to assist with fundraising growth and success. The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) is looking for a volunteer (unpaid) G rants Task Force Committee Member to join and support the Grants Task Force team ! SASF is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on raising critical funds for the Seattle Animal Shelter (SAS). We support programs at the animal shelter that the City of Seattle cannot fund on their own. Our all-volunteer Board of Directors and committees are passionate about animal care and love giving back to our community. The Grants T ask Force is responsible for overseeing the organization’s grants program, including the development and implementation of grant-making policies, the review and selection of grant proposals, and the monitoring of grant awards. The ideal candidate has a passion for making a positive impact in the community and is passionate about helping Seattle’s animals. This animal lover will be well-versed in the standard Microsoft suite of applications, including Word, Excel, and Sharepoint . Attention to detail, self-organization, a can-do attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, small team environment are essential elements to this role. Committee Responsibilities: Attend and actively participate in Grants Task Force monthly meetings and provide input on strategic initiatives and other important issues. Review and evaluate grant proposals for the SASF Board of Directors to approve. Ensure that the organization’s grants program aligns with its mission and goals. Act as a representative of the Grants Task Force and participate in outreach activities to engage with potential grant applications from the SAS staff Provide ongoing monitoring and support of existing grants. Oversee compliance of grants including storing documents and saving all necessary legal documents . Preferred qualifications among the following: Experience working in an animal welfare organization is required. Experience working with grant writing and grant approval is preferred but not required. Proven experience working with Microsoft Office 365, Word, and Excel. Operational efficiency mindset, can-do attitude, and willingness to wear multiple hats. Passion for animals required. Volunteer Opportunity: Furry 5K & Community Events Chair, Board of Directors Do you love dogs, cats, and critters? Do you also have events and leadership expertise? If so, we have a position for you! The Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) is seeking a Community Events Chair to plan and execute events for the Seattle Animal Shelter Foundation and the animals we are supporting. This role has the unique opportunity to plan and coordinate events on behalf of this 501(c)3 organization. The Community Events Co-Chair will collaborate with the Furry 5K and Community Events committee members and will be a member of our 15-person board. This is an unpaid position with a 3-year term. This position will require an average of 3-5 hours of work weekly throughout the year, as we host our own and participate in a variety of communityfocused fundraising and awareness events. The ideal candidate has previous event and volunteer management experience, is willing to roll up their sleeves to plan and execute tasks and is passionate about helping Seattle’s animals and engaging with the community. This animal lover will be well-versed in planning and executing a variety of events, ranging from small tabling events to large-scale extravaganzas. In particular, this individual will also be well versed in and will take the lead on event volunteer recruitment, training, and management and should be comfortable with delegating tasks and leading a team of passionate volunteers. Attention to detail, a can-do attitude, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous environment are essential elements to this role. The candidate will also work with our fundraising and marketing teams to ensure our donors are well-informed about upcoming events. Here are some of the projects you will be co-leading: * Furry 5K: Each June, the Furry 5K fun run/walk fundraiser attracts thousands of twolegged runners accompanied by their four-legged companions. The race is followed by pet fair, with entertainment, festive music, awards, and an interactive vendor area. A popular event in Seattle that is celebrating its 25th year! The Furry 5K is one of the few races in the Puget Sound area that encourages participants to run or walk with their dogs. * Several smaller fundraising and awareness events throughout the year: From small beer and wine events to neighborhood festivals to annual holiday photo sessions, SASF works to raise awareness about the Seattle Animal Shelter through various events. As a member of the DEI Committee, the DEI Volunteer Lead will have the opportunity to evolve and implement SASF’s overall DEI strategy . The ideal candidate has a proven track record of success in managing DEI programming and initiatives, ideally for an animal nonprofit or related field.
