It's about living till the end." - HCC Volunteer Looking for a unique and incredibly rewarding way to serve your local community and make a difference? Hospice & Community Care is currently seeking volunteers to help support our patients and families at the Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center in Mount Joy. The Bob Fryer and Family Inpatient Center offers the hospitality of 24 private rooms and around-the-clock visitation in a home-like atmosphere. Inpatient Center Wing Volunteers provide comfort & care to patients and families by helping to prepare patient meals, keeping the kitchen clean and well-stocked, and providing one on one bedside presence and companionship to patients. To become a Hospice & Community Care volunteer, you just need to have a compassionate heart and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Training is provided for all volunteers, with both in-person and online options offered throughout the year. A team of dedicated Volunteer Coordinators are available to provide continued support. Share your professional expertise in a special way to meet the needs of patients and families in our care. Hospice and Community Care is seeking hair stylist volunteers. Hair Stylist volunteers provide hair cuts to patients in their home residences or at senior nursing facilities. For patients in our care, this service can bring comfort and joy, and a much-appreciated respite from the daily physical and mental challenges they face as a result of their serious illness. Hair Stylist volunteers equally benefit, as their service can bring an immense sense of purpose and satisfaction. Hair Stylist volunteers must possess a current, valid PA Cosmetology license and have reliable transportation. Training will be provided. No time commitment is needed, and patient visits can be designed to best fit a volunteer's busy schedule. Hospice & Community Care is seeking volunteers who enjoy sewing to provide blankets & quilts for patients in our care. We are especially in need of patriotic blankets/quilts, as they are used during Veteran Military Pinning Ceremonies to thank our veteran patients for their service. During the ceremony, these blankets & quilts, which are lovingly made by our Seamstress Volunteers, are draped over the veteran patient, and then kept by the patient and family as a token of our appreciation for their sacrifice. Volunteer Tasks May Include: Visiting patients to bring companionship & comfort Reading to patients, playing card games, singing or providing comforting touch Staying with patients so caregivers can get a much-needed respite Recording & documenting patient's life stories and history To become a Hospice & Community Care volunteer you just need to have a heart full of compassion and a desire to make a meaningful difference. It's about living till the end." - HCC Volunteer Are you a veteran looking for a unique & rewarding way to serve your local community and make a difference? Hospice & Community Care is seeking Veteran Volunteers to participate in our "We Honor Veterans," Vet-to-Vet program. Veteran volunteers provide companionship to veteran patients in our care. In addition, Veteran volunteers provide special Veteran Military Pinning Ceremonies to honor veteran patients, presenting them with military pins, a service certificate, and an American flag to thank them for their service. Veteran volunteers have a special ability to relate and connect with fellow veterans, and this relationship can be incredibly comforting to both the veteran patient and family during their hospice journey. To become a Hospice & Community Care Veteran Volunteer, you do need to be a military veteran, but also possess a compassionate heart and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Training is provided with both in-person and online options offered. A team of dedicated Volunteer Coordinators and fellow veteran volunteers are available to provide continued support.
