Volunteers are the Heart of Hospice & Community Care
"Hospice isn't about dying in the end. It's about living till the end." - HCC Volunteer
Are you a veteran looking for a unique & rewarding way to serve your local community and make a difference? Hospice & Community Care is seeking Veteran Volunteers to participate in our "We Honor Veterans," Vet-to-Vet program.
Veteran volunteers provide companionship to veteran patients in our care. In addition, Veteran volunteers provide special Veteran Military Pinning Ceremonies to honor veteran patients, presenting them with military pins, a service certificate, and an American flag to thank them for their service. Veteran volunteers have a special ability to relate and connect with fellow veterans, and this relationship can be incredibly comforting to both the veteran patient and family during their hospice journey.
To become a Hospice & Community Care Veteran Volunteer, you do need to be a military veteran, but also possess a compassionate heart and a desire to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. Training is provided with both in-person and online options offered. A team of dedicated Volunteer Coordinators and fellow veteran volunteers are available to provide continued support.
If you are interested in joining this dynamic team of Veteran Volunteers, please contact Jen Horan at (717) 735-2466 or email jhoran@hospicecommunity.org. For more information on Hospice & Community Care, visit www.hospiceandcommunitycare.org.
