Mission Statement
Kaiser Permanente exists to provide high-quality, affordable health care services and to improve the health of our members and the communities we serve.
Description
The Kaiser Permanente Hospice Program offers special services to our patients and their families at a very critical time of their lives. Emphasis is on helping the patient to make the most of their remaining life. The patient, family, and caregivers are treated as one unit of care. One of the special services available is the Hospice Volunteer Program. Hospice Volunteers are unique people who have special places in their hearts that motivate them to provide voluntary services to our Hospice patients and their family members in the home care, inpatient, and clerical settings.

Having been a caregiver myself and knowing what it is like I have a heart to help and relieve the caregiver. It is a heartwarming experience to help someone with their loved one at times like this. Kaiser Hospice is a great place to be as a volunteer.

I have worked directly with families who have a loved one on hospice, for 4 years now. This is an experience like no other. Being able to provide respite for family members who are the primary caregivers for a dying loved one is a gift of great love and compassion. The support you provide to a family going through this end of life experience is vital; while I have often heard it takes a special kind of person to do this kind of volunteering, I feel that facing the death of a loved one is a universal experience and we can all find ways to show compassion and provide support. You will be humbled by this experience. I highly recommend working with hospice through Kaiser Permanente, the ongoing education they provide prepares, supports, and inspires you. Give them a call today.

My experience is working the clerical section of Hospice. The staff is exceptional and very thorough in their instructions. I am able to complete all assignments with little or no stress, and it is done with great joy, knowing I am needed, appreciated and making a difference.

The Hospice team are amazing people to work with,. The training was in depth, giving me a complete knowledge of the requirement of the volunteer position I was seeking.

I have volunteered with Kaiser Hospice for 16 years. I consider it the most enriching volunteer experience I have ever had. I have belonged to many organizations and volunteered with many groups. However, hospice is a very private and privileged experience between you and your patient. Each one has left me with a gift of living life in different ways. It is not a dreary experience but very uplifting, and you carry each experience with you for the rest of your life. Kaiser Hospice offers so many wonderful people to work with and many learning experiences. Anyone involved is very special. It is the best thing that I have taken on, and the training is superb. I've been volunteering with Hospice for nearly 4 years. This organization is incredible; the staff are amazing and the opportunities that are given to the volunteers are priceless. I have grown tremendously as a person and as a professional having volunteered with Kaiser Permanente, and I don't envision myself ever leaving.
