Make a Difference in the Lives of Hospice Patients Caretenders Hospice is proudly a partner of the We Honor Veterans program and we are committed to supporting individuals who have served our country with honor and valor. Our nations veterans have unique experiences that those who have not served may not understand, and we believe this specialized volunteering approach provides our veterans with an opportunity that only an individual with similar experiences serving our country can provide them. Honor, also, to the citizen who cares for his brother in the field and serves, as he best can, the same cause." ― Abraham Lincoln Volunteers provide our patients with social and emotional support. During regularly scheduled visits, volunteers may assist with Veteran's Day Ceremonies, sharing stories, recording stories for the Veteran History Project, providing our veterans with companionship, and assisting families in applying for a Presidential Memorial Certificate. Caretenders Hospice serves people residing in their own residence, which may include private homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living communities, and memory care units. We have volunteer positions open all around the Metro Area Most of our volunteers commit approximately 1-2 hours of their time each week. Our visiting times are flexible and individualized to what is best for the resident as well as the volunteer. Our volunteers are provided with all the training they may need and given the full support of our dedicated Caretenders Hospice Team. We have volunteer positions open right in our main office in Bloomington for administrative work. Our administrative volunteer would be working alongside our wonderful office staff with different tasks in an office setting. Duties may include organizing admission paperwork, filing, sending faxes, light cleaning, assisting with mailings, answering phones, stocking supplies, and helping with special events or projects. Our volunteers commit approximately 2+ hours of their time each week. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm and this volunteer position would need to be available during that time frame. This position is a great opportunity to get to know the inner workings of a leading hospice company in the Twin Cities. At Caretenders Hospice, we understand that volunteers are an integral part of end-of-life care. Our volunteers make connections with those who need a hand to hold, a heart to listen, or have a story to share. "Our fingerprints don't fade from the lives we touched."- Judy Blume Volunteer companions provide our residents with social and emotional support. During visits, volunteers participate in activities with the residents such as reading the newspaper or books, taking walks, listening to music, sharing stories and reminiscing, or providing friendship by simply being present in their lives at that moment. Caretenders Hospice serves people residing in their own residence, which may include private homes, skilled nursing facilities, assisted and independent living communities, and memory care units. We have volunteer positions open in the North Oaks area! Most of our volunteers spend 1-2 hours of their time each week building up relationships with their patients. Visit times are flexible and individualized to what is best for the resident as well as the volunteer. We also provide volunteers with all the training they may need as well as any additional support our volunteers may need!
