Unpaid volunteer, 5-15 hours per week, 3 month commitment, remote, flexible hours At One Degree, we believe finding emergency food, shelter, or health services when you or your family is in need should be as easy and straightforward as ordering a book on Amazon. We create modern tech-driven solutions that help families find, access, and manage nonprofit and social services efficiently and with dignity. We are looking for Volunteers to join our team to increase access to life-affirming resources in the Bay Area, Los Angeles and Gainesville, FL. This is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about empowering low-income communities. Our program would be perfect for those who would like an opportunity that is: Completely remote and online Flexible hours Tech-forward (we use Slack, Google sheets etc.) Detail oriented and research heavy Has a far-reaching impact -- improving the lives of thousands Here’s what one of our volunteers has to say about volunteering with One Degree: I like connecting people to information and other people and volunteering with One Degree allows me to provide that service! I’m inspired by all the hours fellow volunteers put in and like having the opportunity to work as a team in updating resources. I’ve really enjoyed learning about the opportunities listed in One Degree, especially arts and job training programs for youth. As part of the Resource Management team, you will be updating our existing database of 22k community resources in the Bay Area and Los Angeles counties. This work is crucial to our commitment to provide up-to-date information for families and individuals that need community resources. Use One Degree’s Resource Editing Tool to make edits directly to existing resources in our database. Compile data into a user-friendly excel spreadsheet. Use Slack to communicate with the Volunteer team and stay informed on Volunteer program updates. Attend a monthly virtual meeting to discuss volunteer work, hear One Degree updates, and any special announcements. Time Commitment: 5-15 hours a week (or updating a minimum of 20 resources per week), for 3-6 months. Qualifications: Basic knowledge of computer and data entry. Have access to a computer. Written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently. Good computer and typing skills. Strong proofreading skills. Training: An introduction & orientation call will be set up with a member of our team. Detailed instructions, training videos, one-on-one virtual support (Slack, email, conference calls) and thoughtful feedback will be given along the way.
