Mission Statement

The mission of Horse Empowered Learning Programs (HELP) is to help those with physical, emotional, and cognitive challenges grow in strength and independence through personalized activities in partnership with the horse.

Description

Horse Empowered Learning Programs, Inc. (H.E.L.P.) is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. Since 1984, H.E.L.P. has served clients with physical and mental disabilities in the greater Austin area, offering Therapeutic Riding, Equine Assisted Learning (EAL), and Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP).

We are excited about your interest in volunteering at H.E.L.P.! Volunteers are the backbone of any equestrian program for people with disabilities. Our clients cannot participate without the physical, emotional, and psychological support of our volunteers.

As a volunteer, you will be a part of a professional and dedicated team. We also have a lot of fun! Therapeutic riding brings feelings of boundless joy and accomplishment to everyone involved. The rewards for both you and our clients make volunteering efforts very worthwhile. We ask that you commit to volunteer at least 1 hour weekly for 3-6 months to ensure consistency for the riders and horses.

I would like to volunteer my time for this organization. I think what the program offering is great and I would like to be part of that team. I'm also interested in being commitment into this organization for 3-6 months. I may not be a good candidate considering I never been close to a horse ever in my life but would be interested in learning about them to help.

Growing up, I was shy with zero self-confidence. Training and then showing horses boosted my confidence and helped me grow up during those difficult adolescent years. I would higly recommend any activity involving horses to kids and young teens any day!!!!!
