New Century Hospice is all about quality of life and doing what it takes to make sure our patients and their families/loved ones have what they need. One way to accomplish this goal is to provide volunteers who simply spend time with our patients visiting. For example...... In Round Rock......We have a lady in a facility who loves to visit. In Hutto....We have a lady who lives in a facility and loves to visit too!. Here is how you make it happen so you can visit our patients: Contact me via text - Katrina Wilson on my cell at 512-623-9279. Include your name so I will know whom I'm talking with when I call you. We will set up an Orientation as soon as possible around your schedule. Complete your orientation process Go visit with your patient! A little about our Volunteers: * Do not provide any medical support like feeding, giving medicines, transferring * Do not need previous experience in the medical field or in volunteering * Do choose how often and where they want to volunteer * Come from diverse backgrounds. This includes age, work, families, thoughts, careers, life styles, and where they live. * Complete our team! If I have caught your interest I would love to have you contact me! We have a patient in Elgin who would like to have someone to come and "hang out and play cards, talk a little, watch some TV" with him. He is okay with any day of the week to visit. Orientation will be provided. We will set the date and location of when, when we talk. Our Volunteers: Come from all walks of life No previous experience needed Do not provide any direct care Are companions Are advocates for their patients Choose how often you want to visit I hope you are interested! We are looking for a Volunteer to help our Bereavement Coordinator, Shannon with a few of her on-going projects. These consist of but are not limited to: preparing monthly mailouts, preparing cards weekly, for mailings, and helping with our annual remembrance service. To start with, you would need to be in the office. After you're comfortable you'll have to option to work from home.

My goal is always to get a Volunteer going as soon as possible. As a result, you and I will set up your orientation that fits into your schedule right away! Who our patients are: Individuals who have a life expectancy of 6 months or less - given their illness takes it's natural progression. And their loved ones. Our Volunteers: come with diverse backgrounds. This includes: walks of life, age, lifestyle, thoughts, careers, where they live choose how often and where they want to volunteer do not need any medical experience How our Volunteers fit in to our team: Volunteers are "friendly visitors" who go in without an agenda and visit, or may provide a break for a caregiver.
