Gateway Medical Office Building 3rd Floor Volunteer

Assists staff by greeting patients and directing them where to go on the 3rd Floor of the Gateway Medical Office Building located on the AdventHealth Shawnee Mission Campus. There is a high volume of patient traffic. Third floor has several primary care practices and a lab. There are about 25 providers split into two teams. They also have the only lab in that building, so specialty patients are entering here for lab as well. There is a very high volume of people coming into this space. The volunteer space has a desk as the first line of sight as you exit the elevator. Need a volunteer there to direct patients to the left or right side of the clinic for check-in. Looking for volunteers with great customer service skills to greet people with a warm smile and direct them to the right place. Volunteers can sit at the desk or stand if they prefer to be up and moving around. Volunteers will help us improve the experience for the many patients who visit there.

Looking for year-round commitment. Volunteer opportunities available for adults & juniors (minimum age 14) weekdays, evenings & weekends. Volunteers work one four-hour shift per week, and are asked to commit to giving a minimum of 100 hours of service to the program. Assignments vary between departments, both on and off campus.

Our new Outpatient Services Entrance opens May 20. This is a great opportunity if you love others and have a desire to serve the community, want to stay active and give back, have physical ability to stand and move freely around the facility, can push wheelchairs, work effectively with others, understand and follow directions, are committed to maintaining patient confidentiality, and enjoy making new friends. You will provide care to patients/visitors through greeting, welcoming, answering questions, giving information, and escorting patients/visitors to their destinations.

I have volunteered at Shawnee Mission Medical Center for two years this past May. I absolutely love working there. Seeing the impact I make and meeting some wonderful people are the highlights of the job. This is what volunteer work should be like. I am proud to say I am a volunteer there and look forward to working there for as long as I can.
