HESSCO/Springwell Money Management Program --- Volunteers Make a Big Difference --- This is a great opportunity to help a senior in a very important way. Help sort mail, prioritize bills, write checks and balance checkbooks. The Money Management Program assists elders, who for a variety of reasons, need help with monthly bill paying activities. Most clients suffer from physical or cognitive impairments that impede their ability to effectively maintain their household finances. Elders in the program are matched with trained volunteers who provide one-on-one support that targets the client’s specific needs. Volunteers typically help with organizing and paying bills, maintaining the check register, reconciling bank statements, and advocating with service providers. The elder maintains full control over his/her money and retains check-signing and decision-making capacity at all times. We will provide training and on-going professional support. This opportunity requires just a few hours per month and is a wonderful way to help an elder in need.

Help your Natick neighbors! The Home Delivered Meals Program provides older adults with a nutritious lunch delivered to their door up to 5 days per week. It is an essential tool to prevent food insecurity, malnutrition, and social isolation when mobility challenges, illness, or disability make it difficult to grocery shop and prepare food. During the recent COVID pandemic, Springwell went from delivering 250,000 meals to 350,000 annually. Even with the end of pandemic restrictions, we continue to serve the same number of meals in response to the challenges of living on a fixed income in a period of inflation and the loneliness crisis. With the ongoing shifts in the economy and the job market, we have been unable to hire enough full-time drivers to deliver all these meals. Volunteers have generously responded to our recruiting efforts for drivers enabling us to deliver each meal in a timely manner Monday through Friday. We always need more drivers. Please volunteer to join us for a shift or two each week if the following qualifications make this opportunity a good fit for you: Must be 18, have a reliable car, a current driver’s license, and a clean driving record; Must be able to lift 25 pounds; and Must meet the regulatory pre-requisites for the position. Springwell will train volunteers and provide ongoing support to make sure each volunteer has the resources needed to deliver meals to older adults relying on this service. Please contact us! Email volunteer@springwell.com to start the process; or go online to learn more at https://springwell.com/resource/volunteer-home-delivered-meals-drivers/
