Immediate need for volunteer to complete free training with company to assist hospice patient in Walnut Cove NC with companionship visits. Client does know some english but is embarrased to speak it much. She is fluent in spanish. Her son can translate and we also have a translation service if needed but would be great to find someone who is bilingual and could speak openly with her. This particular opportunity is for companionship and maybe giving her a snack from kitchen or a drink of water if needed. Her son may step away for a break at times as well so this would also allow him some respite time. Other opportunities available in area and other areas as well.

She would like a christian volunteer to talk with her and provide companionship and if able, someone who can play a guitar or another musical instrument but not required. Her home is clean and she has 2 very small sweet dogs in the home.

Female hospice patient living in Advance NC needs a volunteer to sit and talk with her. She enjoys talking about her past and about planting flowers. She loves to give advice as this gives her a feeling of self worth. Her caregiver would like a 1.5-2 hour visit on Thursdays at 10:30 am to allow her to go pick up groceries and to pick up lunch for the patient at her favorite resturant. Patient is able to walk with a walker and able to feed herself. Sometimes she just isn't in the mood to talk but caregiver would still like someone to sit with her so that she is not left unsupervised. She has dementia but does remember her past well and enjoys talking about her childhood memories and memories from work. Volunteers with us do not provide hands on patient care but more of a friend relationship.

Hospice patient seeking visits for talking. Patient is in her room and in her bed most of the time. She lives with family but rather talk with others at this time. Home is clean and there is one large but very friendly dog in the home that belongs to her daughter. This visit is just to talk with her and maybe play music on youtube. Patient likes to laugh and joke a lot.

Remote but within reasonable distance from Winston Salem NC area volunteer needed. It is 100% remove but still prefer someone who is able to meet for TB test and for part of the training that requires in person. The position- Volunteer will be given a list of patients/caregivers to call through online website login that is HIPPA complaint. These will be clients with the highest acuity/needs. Volunteer will be asked to call each client or their caregiver to check in and ask questions from the script to ensure they have enough medications to get through the weekend, proper equipment etc. The calls typically need to be made between Wednesday evening from around 5:30 pm until 8 pm, any time between 8 am and 8 pm on Thursday and Friday mornings as long as the list be completed by Friday at 1 pm to allow nurses time to get all the needs met prior to weekend. If there is a need found, Volunteer will message need to the volunteer coordinator to be relayed to the nurse. The calls typically last 2-3 minutes each but could be a bit longer if there is an issue the client/caregiver wants to report. This position is a volulnteer from home position but still requires some in person training and proof of NC driver's license and vehicle insurance. A TB test is also still required along with background check.
