Fairfield County Parks is constantly battling to maintain native plants in our parks. Native plants are important in providing habitats for wildlife, and in not crowding out other native plants growing in the area. If you care about helping wildlife or just like being outside off trail you may be a good match for this! Potential activities may include, but are not limited to: Manually removing by pulling, sawing, or clipping plants. Dragging cut shrubs off trail. Pruning plants back from trails. Walking off-trail. There are no qualifications necessary to become a Natural Resources Aid aside from possessing a great attitude, passion for the outdoors, and a willingness to get down and dirty outside. Training on plant ID will be provided to interested volunteers. Volunteers may be exposed to inclement weather, biting insects, noxious plants, and other risks associated with being in an outdoor setting. All Fairfield County Park District volunteers are subject to a background check prior to beginning volunteer activities.
