We are recruting for certified pet therapy dogs, and cats to bring smiles to our patients! The pet therapy volunteer can brighten the day of so many patients, and their family members. The volunteer pet therapy team is required to thave their animal certified. The volunteer coordinator can assist the volunteer in finding certification programs. Hospice Compassus provides training on how to work with people at the end of life. The volunteer provides the talent, compassion, and time. The patient assignments are made according to the volunteer's time, and location. The patient may reside either in a residence or long-term care facility. Hospice Compassus is looking for musical volunteers who are able to play musical instruments, and/or hospice patients living at home, in the hospital or in long term care facilities. We have found at times what a hospice patient needs the most is a way to express feelings without talking. The volunteer playing or singing their favorite song or hymns help patients and families reconnect with feelings and memories that can bring about a sense of sense of peace and happiness. Hospice Compassus provides training on how to work with peoplel at the end of life. The volunteer provides the talent, compassion and time. The volunteer assignments are made according to the volunteer's time and location. Hospice Compassus is looking for volunteers who love to sew, and want to share their skills with hospice patients and families. A Memory Bear sewn by a volunteer with compassion and love, is a forever friend who can ease a hurting heart after the death of a Hospice Compassus hospice patient. The Memory Bear is sewn from a patient's favorite pair of jeans, sports jersey, dress, work uniform, or shirt. The Memory Bear can evoke the the closeness of a loved one, bring a smile to someone in distress, or a sense of security to a child who feels along who feels alone after the loss of a parent, or sibling. This is a great opporunity you to give back to your community by using your creative skills, and strengthen your resume. Hospice Compassus provides coverage within the folling counties Philadelphia, Montgomery, and Bucks. MSW students will gain valuable experience while providing terminally ill patients, and their families with psychological, and social support the guidance of a Hospice Compassus MSW field instructor. The students will serve as members of the Hospice Compassus interdisciplinary patient care teams while assisting patients and families in accessing community resources, and governmental situations. The students also will help patients, and families identify grief issues, and provide bereavement services. Hospice MSW student interns must be enrolled in a Master of Social Work program at an accredited college or university. The MSW student interns must attend new volunteer training before starting your internship. The coverage areas Hospice Compassus provides support are Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties.
