ORGANIZATION: Hospice Compassus

MSW students will gain valuable experience while providing terminally ill patients, and their families with psychological, and social support the guidance of a Hospice Compassus MSW field instructor. The students will serve as members of the Hospice Compassus interdisciplinary patient care teams while assisting patients and families in accessing community resources, and governmental situations. The students also will help patients, and families identify grief issues, and provide bereavement services.

Hospice MSW student interns must be enrolled in a Master of Social Work program at an accredited college or university. The MSW student interns must attend new volunteer training before starting your internship.

The coverage areas Hospice Compassus provides support are Philadelphia, Bucks, and Montgomery Counties.

Description

Hospice care is a type of healthcare that aims to reduce suffering and promote comfort at the end of and promote comfort at the end of an individual's life. Pain and any other symptoms are managed around the clock, and the hospice team focuses greatly on spiritual and emotional health as well.

The foundation of hospice includes nursing care with an emphasis on managing symptoms, practical assistance, and emotional support. Caring for a loved one at home can be challenging. Our goal is to provide timely services to help your family make the most of your time together.
