We are a non-profit organization based in Alberta that offers free advocacy services for individuals in our province who are struggling with their healthcare needs. Role and Responsibilities: Advocates are the heart and soul of Open Arms. The role of an advocate is to work with clients to achieve their desired goals, which will look different depending on the individual client’s needs. Advocates typically have at least 3 clients at a time, but the workload may vary depending on how many cases the organization receives each month. Advocates are also responsible for providing a written update to the Advocacy Chairs each month, prior to the monthly advocacy meeting. Some of the duties of an advocate may include: Guiding clients on how to obtain any necessary medical records, information, or documentation. Providing resources and programs to clients to meet their goals. Attending medical appointments with the client (depending on scheduling; we understand this is a volunteer position!) Assisting the client in taking notes, drafting questions, or sending emails to healthcare professionals. Facilitating open and respectful communication between clients and their healthcare providers. Supporting the client in becoming their own advocate and having a voice. Charting all interactions in SharePoint between the advocate, client and healthcare professionals. Attending all training sessions and workshops to improve skills as an Advocate.

Role and Responsibilities The Marketing and Outreach team is responsible for promoting the services of the Society, developing new strategies for outreach and promotion, and producing content for newsletters, blogs, and social media. Some of the key responsibilities include: Attend Marketing Committee meetings and collaborate/brainstorm new marketing and outreach initiatives to promote the Society. Collaborate with the Marketing Committee to produce social media posts, blogs, and newsletters related to Alberta healthcare matters/news on a regular basis. Support the maintenance of marketing platforms such as Facebook, website design using Wordpress, Twitter, Instagram etc. Liaise and network with internal and external contacts (Other Non-Profit groups, business associations, government agencies, news and other media) to ensure the marketing strategies for the Society are healthy and successful. Determine and implement all marketing tools such as image, logo, banner, website, and communication materials.

Role and Responsibilities The primary responsibility of the Information Management and Analytics Technology IMAT Director is to ensure the information of the organization is maintained, organized, readily retrieved and accurate. Please note that Open Arms uses Microsoft 365 products and services Outlook, SharePoint, etc. This position will be fulfilled by two individuals to split the tasks and responsibilities. Some of these duties may include: Develop technical expertise in new, innovative software to quickly deliver value. Execute technical work; perform and support programming, software integration, and data integration activities. Manage and ensure all information systems are maintained, functional and optimized. Ensure proper document classification, sorting, and archiving. Perform document quality checks and act to rectify quality issues. Determine and perform regular adjustments to the database, website, e-mails, and any additional technology that may be acquired. Once the database is complete, responsible for organizing and inputting the documents from Open Arms. If required, adjust the database to ensure all necessary documents are reflected. Manage, issue, and remove user ID and passwords for all technological systems: thus far, e-mails and database. Responsible for the maintenance, integrity and management of the Website and perform all needed changes in collaboration with the Marketing Chair. Add documents or information to the website as required. In the event of special projects, perform any needed research and present statistical information to the board. Produce data analysis, reports, charts, and investigation of company and client data.

The ideal candidate will have experience with news reporting and media. Some of the key responsibilities include: Develop and implement media strategies that will be optimal for Open Arms in collaboration with the Marketing and Outreach Team. Develop and maintain relationships with news outlets across Alberta. Serve as a primary spokesperson for the Society in collaboration with the Board Chair. Work with clients and advocates to bring media attention to their case, if desired. Evaluate media efforts and determine measures of success. Collaborate with the Marketing Committee to produce social media posts, blogs, and newsletters related to Alberta healthcare matters/news on a regular basis. Stay up to date on current healthcare issues and matters surrounding patient care.

Serve as a key contact/liaison between the Society and external organizations. Lead outreach initiatives such as booths at conferences or fairs in collaboration with the Board Chair and Marketing & Outreach volunteers.
