Mission Statement
Horizons at San Francisco Friends School provides joyful academic and enrichment experiences that build on the strength and talents of students in San Francisco's public schools. We envision educational equity facilitated by community relationships that foster students' confidence, curiosity, and capacity to thrive in school and beyond. Volunteers are valued as an integral part of accomplishing Horizons at San Francisco Friends School’s mission to provide joyful academic and enrichment experiences to San Francisco public school students. Volunteers support our goal of holistically uplifting our students through providing additional classroom assistance and giving 1-on-1 support to our students. Through their dedication of time, skills, and passion for educational equity, volunteers enhance our program by making important connections with our students that impact them for a lifetime.
Description
During the summer, Horizons at SFFS operates a six-week learning and enrichment program for students who attend K-8 public schools in the Mission District. A summer at Horizons combines academic instruction, enrichment activities, swimming classes, and social-emotional support to give students a well-rounded experience and expose them to a variety of new interests and activities.
