Hybrid Volunteer Social Media Manager - San Quentin SkunkWorks Location: Hybrid (Remote with occasional visits to San Quentin State Prison) About San Quentin SkunkWorks: San Quentin SkunkWorks is an innovative criminal justice reform lab, run by incarcerated people. With the help of top tier professionals on our outside Operations Team we research, craft and build transformative criminal justice programs. Together, we're using our experience in the system to change it for the better, and in the process, most of us are also finding a way to change ourselves Position Description: We are looking for a Volunteer Social Media Manager to help us amplify a narrative rarely heard but immensely powerful. This role offers the unique opportunity to work alongside our Impact Team, comprised of incarcerated leaders, and gain firsthand insights that deepen the impact of your social media campaigns. Ideal Candidate: You are deeply attuned to the nuances of digital storytelling with a passion for justice and reform. Creative, empathetic, and skilled in social media, you're ready to transform complex social issues into compelling online narratives that resonate and educate. Responsibilities: - Develop and manage our social media strategy to elevate the voices of incarcerated individuals, showcasing the transformative initiatives they lead. - Collaborate on-site with our Impact Team to capture authentic stories and insights, bringing fresh perspectives to our digital platforms. - Monitor engagement and adapt strategies to broaden our reach and deepen our impact on the community. Role: Game Master of Change As a Game Master of Change, you will: - Lead and facilitate Magic: The Gathering or Dungeons & Dragons sessions for our incarcerated participants. - Create a supportive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages strategic thinking, teamwork, and creativity. - Mentor and guide participants in developing their skills, both in-game and in life. - Collaborate with our team to design and implement game-based activities that align with our mission of transformation and empowerment. - Assist in outreach efforts to secure gaming resources and materials to enhance our program. What We’re Looking For: - Enthusiastic and experienced MTG or D&D players who can effectively lead game sessions. - Strong communication and leadership skills. - A commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of incarcerated people. - Patience, empathy, and a willingness to engage with participants from diverse backgrounds. - Availability on the first Friday of each month from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM.
