Our hosts are the welcoming and supporting faces our guests meet when they come into Building B of our Day Center. Responsibilities include checking-in guests for their meals and/or shower appointments, providing beverage service, and assisting with other activities in Building B. This is a great opportunity for those who love chatting with people or are interested in social work as they gain experience working with our case management system. We will train you - no experience necessary. Host shifts are Monday-Thursday in the morning from 7:45:00am-11:30am and in the afternoon 11:30am-2:10pm. On Fridays, host shifts are 7:45am- 12:10pm. "Beauty begins the moment you decide to be yourself" - Coco Chanel Do you have a passion for fashion and helping others look their best? Join us as a Clothes Closet volunteer! Our Clothes Closet is our on-site boutique and treasure trove for our guests to find much-needed clothing, shoes and personal care items. Thanks to many wonderful donations, we are able to give our guests warm clothes, personal care items and the ability to dress for success! We are currently recruiting volunteers as Stylists to assist guests and Organizers to sort and label donations. The Clothes Closet is currently open Monday-Thursday 9:00am-12:00pm but we would love to expand to open on Friday with volunteer assistance. In our on-site kitchen, we prepare and serve nourishing meals infused with dignity, kindness, and compassion, with a pinch of joy and laughter. Fueling our guests' smiles, bodies, and minds. Join us as a kitchen volunteer as we give our guests the chance to flourish, one plate at a time! Meal service for our guests includes hot breakfasts Monday - Friday and hot lunches Monday - Thursday. Our kitchen also prepares meals for the Casa de Noche Buena shelter in Seaside, which supports women and families. Breakfast prep and service shifts are Monday- Friday 7:15am-10:00am. Lunch prep and service shifts are Monday-Friday10:00M-12:30pm. Shelter Meal Prep shifts are Monday- Thursday 12:30-3:00pm. "Let no one come to you without leaving better and happier" - Mother Theresa Our Front Desk volunteers are the first and last person to interact with our guests. Your smiles, patience, and kindness make a huge difference in each guest's experience. This is a great opportunity for individuals hoping to gain general clerical experience, especially for those interested in social work, case management, working at a non-profit, or with at-risk populations and women. This role requires sitting at a desk, answering phone calls, answering questions our guests may have and navigating creating their daily appointments. Our Day Center is open for guests from 8am-2pm Monday through Thursday and 8am-Noon on Fridays. Morning shifts on Monday-Thursday are 7:45am- 11:30am with afternoon shifts from 11:15am-2:00pm. Are you an artist, or do you have special skills you’d like to share? Our day center is looking for creative volunteers to help enhance the lives of our guests by hosting workshops, teaching classes, or leading group activities that inspire and engage. Your skills and talents can make a meaningful impact on the lives of the people we serve. We are currently recruiting volunteers with artistic talents such as painting, drawing, dance, storytelling, photography, etc. If you have one-on-one services you would like to provide, such as massages, haircuts, or manicures, please let us know. Shifts are time commitments are flexible!
